All Elite Wrestling celebrated tonight a new edition of WrestleDream, an event that featured great matches and standout moments. One of the main points was Kris Statlander's first defense as Women's World Champion, where she managed to defeat former champion Toni Storm.
The match started evenly, with Toni Storm taking the initial advantage and using a Hip Attack to send Kris Statlander out of the ring. However, the champion quickly responded with a Moonsault, also punishing the former champion with a Senton and a Lariat. But Storm managed to neutralize Statlander with a DDT and a Tiger Driver, although the count only reached two.
The action intensified when Storm went for the Storm Zero, but Statlander reacted in time and countered with an impressive 450 Splash that almost gave her the victory. Both wrestlers exchanged German Suplexes and the former champion managed to hit her Storm Zero, but Statlander broke the three count once again. The ending came after Statlander applied a Discus Lariat and her Saturday Night Fever.
Instead of going for an immediate pin, Kris Statlander locked in a submission hold in the center of the ring. After seeing Storm's resilience, the champion got frustrated and executed a second Saturday Night Fever to secure the victory and title retention. However, the celebration was immediately interrupted by the music of Mercedes Moné, who made her appearance accompanied by The Frat House, foreshadowing a new rivalry.
