This afternoon, General Manager Nick Aldis made an important announcement, following the tense segment this Friday on SmackDown, where Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre faced off. During that confrontation, Cody showed a more aggressive side towards his rival, leading Aldis to schedule a significant match for Saturday Night's Main Event.
Originally, the main event of SmackDown would feature a match between Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu to determine Cody Rhodes' challenger. However, the match was canceled after Fatu was attacked beforehand. Despite this, the night culminated in an intense altercation: Cody Rhodes came out to confront McIntyre, sparking a fight that led General Manager Nick Aldis to announce that Cody will put his Undisputed Championship on the line against McIntyre.
This won't be the first time they face off; in fact, they have faced each other on multiple occasions since last year, both in live shows and televised events of Raw and SmackDown. Their rivalry even included a tag team match where Cody Rhodes teamed up with John Cena to take on Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul.
Their most recent showdown between these superstars took place at WWE Wrestlepalooza on September 20, where Cody Rhodes successfully retained the Undisputed Championship. However, this time, McIntyre seeks revenge and will try to snatch the title from "The American Nightmare."
