The absence of Mike Santana in the backstage of TNA Turning Point has sparked a lot of discussion in the last few hours. Mike Johnson, from PWInsider, reported this afternoon that the wrestler had not shown up for the company's call and had also not attended a fan signing session. Additionally, he was not responding to the company's calls, leading many to believe that Santana might be upset with TNA following his title loss in the last weekly iMPACT! show.

In the last few minutes, both PWInsider and Fightful have shared new information about the situation that points to a orchestrated work by TNA itself and that could end with Santana joining WWE once his contract with Anthem Media's company comes to an end at the end of next month.

"Santana's current contract with TNA ends at the end of this year. It is believed that he has an offer on the table from TNA for an extension. There has been interest from WWE in Santana for months, but obviously both companies collaborate and it is completely possible for them to work together again, as happened with Joe Hendry," wrote Johnson from PWInsider.

"Some have assumed that last night's story, where Santana lost the title, was done to facilitate his move to WWE NXT, but no one from the WWE side has confirmed that was the case. Santana is still not backstage at tonight's TNA PPV, but as the day progresses, more people believe that all of this is some kind of story related to Santana's defeat last night," he added.

Later, Johnson updated his report, confirming that Santana had finally arrived at the venue. "Mike Santana is now backstage at TNA Turning Point, as confirmed by PWInsider.com," he wrote.

"The news about Mike Santana not answering calls is a work," wrote Fightful. "The same TNA executive tried to pass us that information and also provided it elsewhere. Normally we wouldn't publish something like this, but this is the first time someone in an official position has reached out to us to give us a worked story with the specific goal of deceiving our audience."

In light of this new information, it seems that TNA is behind this story and has also been responsible for leaking it to the media to attract fans' attention. So far, the company has not made any official statement on the matter, although they have shared the news that the Full Sail University, where Turning Point will take place, has just put up the "Sold Out" sign.
