Steven Borden gave everyone a scare at the AEW All Out event last Saturday. Sting's son joined forces with his mentor, Darby Allin, to face Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher in a tag team match with a future title opportunity at stake. However, the match ended earlier than expected due to an unfortunate incident.
At one point in the match, Borden was supposed to stop Knight in mid-air as he attempted to perform a Coast to Coast on Allin. Both men collided in the air as planned, but something went wrong. The referee quickly noticed that Steven was not okay, so he called for the medical team, who attended to the wrestler on the mat.
After some distressing minutes, the official ended the match and Borden was taken out on a stretcher without the images being shown on screen. Throughout the night, the commentators provided an update on Borden's condition, stating that he was conscious and even asked about the match.
As expected, many fans have expressed concern for Borden, while others have criticized the risk he took with his career just beginning. One fan compared Steven and Knight's spot to the one Logan Paul and Ricochet performed in WWE, stating that "The Maverick" spent weeks preparing for it. An assertion that was refuted by Ricochet himself in response to this fan.
"No, we tried it once and that was basically it. But it doesn't matter if we rehearsed it once or a hundred times. In wrestling, injuries have occurred with both high-risk and low-risk moves. Unfortunately, it's a risk we face every time we step into the ring. No one is to blame for this. It's just an unfortunate situation. So let's hope Steven keeps improving," he wrote.
The latest update on Borden's condition was shared by Tony Khan during the post-All Out press conference. In it, the president of All Elite Wrestling stated that Steven had undergone a CT scan and all test results were good. At that time, it was expected that Borden would be discharged on Sunday to return home.
