JBL will travel to Mexico City this weekend to join the broadcast team for Triplemanía XXXIII, in a very special edition held under the WWE banner. The news was revealed by the former world champion himself on the Something to Wrestle With podcast, where he explained that the company had invited him to work alongside Corey Graves at the commentary table.
The veteran wrestler, who received the go-ahead from Jeremy Borash to announce his participation, expressed his excitement about taking part in Lucha Libre AAA’s biggest event of the year: “I’m very excited to be part of Triplemanía,” he said during the interview.
According to PWInsider, Corey Graves will serve as the lead voice of the show, reprising his role from the English-language broadcast of the joint WWE & AAA Worlds Collide special held in June, where he was joined by Konnan as an analyst. This time, JBL will step in to provide his decades of in-ring knowledge and experience.
This won’t be JBL’s first time in AAA. Over the past year, he appeared as part of a powerful heel faction led by Konnan, Dorian Roldan, and Alberto El Patrón. However, the group ultimately turned on Alberto, who was recently forced to leave AAA in a storyline resolved during recent TV tapings. Now, JBL returns to the Mexican promotion in a completely different role, ready to lend his voice to what promises to be a historic night.
JBL’s work behind the microphone is nothing new. For years, the former world champion was a regular voice on WWE broadcasts, both on SmackDown and Monday Night Raw, blending a direct style with irony and deep wrestling knowledge. His return to commentary for such a major event is a nostalgic nod to fans who remember that era, adding veteran insight and charisma to Triplemanía’s narration.
Lucha Libre AAA Triplemanía XXXIII will take place on August 16 at Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City. The event will be broadcast in both Spanish and English on YouTube. At Solowrestling, we will be providing live coverage of the show.
