MJF returns to Arena México this Friday, August 15 to make his first defense of the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship against Zandokan Jr. in the main event of the Viernes Espectacular.
On August 1, the “American Hero” returned to the Cathedral of Lucha Libre and, true to his rudo style, took advantage of the referee’s distraction to strike Averno and finish him off with a submission hold that forced him to tap out, sparking controversy.
Immediately afterward, Zandokan Jr. stormed in to express his displeasure with how the title was decided and demanded a championship opportunity. That challenge now materializes in a clash that promises intensity and unfinished business.
Since raising the belt, MJF has appeared in All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor, also hinting that Místico is on his radar—something that could open new fronts after his defense at Arena México. It seems that MJF’s final match on this Mexico tour will be against the masked star, although this has not yet been confirmed.
As usual on Solowrestling, we will publish the results of the CMLL Viernes Espectacular event on Saturday morning. If you want to watch it live, you can sign up through the subscription method offered by CMLL on their YouTube channel.
