WWE is carrying out a strategy based on counterprogramming to compete against All Elite Wrestling. A measure that, despite being criticized by a sector of the fans, seems far from ending. According to a recent report by Jon Alba, a journalist from Sports Illustrated, TNA Wrestling could take its weekly show, TNA iMPACT!, to a network associated with WWE to compete directly with AEW Dynamite on Wednesday nights.

"There have been talks about TNA moving to a network associated with WWE, and the company would even be open to switching from Thursdays to Wednesday nights to compete directly with AEW Dynamite," wrote Alba.

"Although it was not directly indicated that the destination would be The CW, it was expressed in Sports Illustrated's The Takedown that The CW's interest in the promotion is legitimate, and that some WWE shareholders wanted TNA to be part of that network," the outlet added.

Currently, AEW Dynamite airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on TBS, with a simulcast on HBO Max. TNA iMPACT! airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on AXS TV and TNA+. On the other hand, the CW network is the television home of NXT, which airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

All Elite Wrestling already knows what it's like to share a time slot with another wrestling show. Just as it debuted on television, AEW Dynamite had to compete directly with WWE NXT in what was known as the "Wednesday Night Wars" (2019-2021), which ended with All Elite Wrestling achieving higher viewership ratings, forcing WWE to move its developmental brand show to Tuesday nights.

As for TNA iMPACT!, this potential move to The CW would help it gain more visibility and, most likely, a higher viewership rating, something it has lacked in recent years. For Anthem Media's company, this would be another step in its new phase, characterized by a collaboration agreement with WWE. An agreement that has helped it experience a resurgence in popularity, reflected in increased attendance at its shows.
