WWE has plans to bring Lucha Libre AAA back to US territory before the end of the year. According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer newsletter, plans are already in motion to hold a new Lucha Libre AAA event in the United States under the WWE umbrella, although the date and venue have not been revealed yet.
This information comes just a few months after Worlds Collide, held in June in Inglewood, California, where El Hijo del Vikingo successfully defended the AAA Megachampionship against WWE superstar Chad Gable in the main event. The show was an important step in WWE's strategy to boost the AAA brand in the international market.
Vikingo's next big commitment will take place this Saturday at Triplemanía, an event that will be held in Mexico City, in a four-way match against Dominik Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano. The event will be broadcast live and for free through WWE's official YouTube channel, in both English and Spanish. The channels have already opened the links, which will be provided by Solowrestling tomorrow morning.
WWE announced the acquisition of AAA in April of this year, integrating one of the two most important companies in Mexican wrestling into its global structure. This new event in the United States will be another step in the joint expansion of both companies and in the consolidation of AAA as an international brand within the WWE ecosystem.
In the last few hours, there has been much talk about this alliance and the potential expansion between WWE and TNA, a partnership that could be more evident in the United States, where TNA Wrestling could air on a larger network on Wednesdays.
