The alliance between WWE and TNA Wrestling could go beyond what we have seen so far. According to Dave Meltzer's latest newsletter from Wrestling Observer, WWE has an option to acquire TNA Wrestling for a limited time, as well as having the right of first refusal in case the company finds an external buyer. Details about the price and duration of this option have not been disclosed.
Internal sources from WWE indicate that the agreement is similar to the one the company had in the past with various European promoters such as wXw, OTT, and PROGRESS Wrestling, in exchange for content for the then WWE Network and allowing European talents to work in their events.
At that time, RevPro rejected a similar proposal. In January of this year, WWE and TNA officially announced a multi-year alliance, mainly for talent exchanges between NXT and TNA. Although the movement with the main roster has been limited, highlights include Joe Hendry's appearances in the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, as well as AJ Styles' appearance at Slammiversary last month.
In recent days, it has been reported that Impact, TNA's flagship show, could start airing on a channel associated with WWE, such as The CW, and even compete directly with AEW Dynamite on Wednesdays. WWE would be assisting TNA in finding a new television contract.
Additionally, rumors have surfaced about a possible interest from Lorenzo Fertitta, former co-owner of UFC, in buying TNA. Meltzer clarified that the deal is not finalized, but emphasized that any buyer would have to maintain a friendly relationship with WWE for the operation to materialize.
