Jeff Hardy, the charismatic enigma, is one of the most beloved wrestlers in all of history. His rebellious personality, often wild but loved and respected by all fans of the industry, has positioned him as one of the quintessential babyfaces and underdogs.
Unfortunately, the career of the younger Hardy brother has been hindered on countless occasions by the various problems the wrestler has had with alcohol and drugs. There have been several legal issues he has faced, all caused by Hardy's addiction to different substances. Furthermore, this addiction has not only caused him problems with the law, but also with his bosses and teammates in different companies. Many remember his infamous match against Sting at the TNA Victory Road event in 2011.
Fortunately, since his last arrest in June 2022, the wrestler has remained sober and completely free from addictions. That legal issue marked a turning point in his life. While it cost him his job at AEW, Hardy has made a 180-degree turn in his daily life.
In an interview with the podcast Outside the Ring, Hardy has expressed feeling a lot of "shame and guilt" for his various personal problems caused by addictions that have hindered his career. Luckily, he has practically felt at the best moment of his life since embracing sobriety over three years ago. "Three years sober. Yes, three. And sobriety is like my motocross track, for example, brother. I would have never finished it if I hadn't recovered. I would never talk about building a waterfall... if I were still drinking or doing drugs. So I'm happy to be in love with life again," commented the former WWE champion.
During the interview, Jeff Hardy also spoke about how his struggle against himself and against adversity has motivated many people who identify with him: "It's not just about me. There are people who have seen me and have found something positive in my struggle. Even if I never meet them, I know I have helped them in some way," he reflected.
Currently, Hardy is in the final years of his career. Despite not being at the highest level, for obvious reasons of age, Jeff still maintains a decent level in his performances. He is the TNA Tag Team Champion with his brother Matt, and they will face the Dudley Boyz at the TNA Bound for Glory event.
