Naomi, former WWE women's world champion, surprised the audience by revealing on Raw that she is pregnant. The wrestler confirmed it on the special podcast What's Your Story? alongside Stephanie McMahon, where she was accompanied by her husband, Jimmy Uso.
WWE has released the full excerpt of that extra interview, where the WWE superstar explained that she discovered the news on August 10, just hours before her match against IYO SKY on Raw. "In my hotel room I felt strange. I decided to take a test to rule it out, not thinking it was possible, because it has been a long road with fertility problems," she recounted.
Naomi revealed that she is currently seven weeks pregnant and has already been able to hear her baby's heartbeat. However, she acknowledged that the pregnancy is high-risk and she will need more frequent medical check-ups. "Everything is going well, we've had a good start," she added.
The wrestler also recalled the medical difficulties she has faced throughout her career. Before debuting on the main roster as a Funkadactyl, she underwent an oophorectomy to remove her right ovary. In addition, in 2020 she underwent a complex surgery to remove multiple uterine fibroids.
"I had many, and quite large," she confessed. Jimmy Uso added: "The operation was supposed to last a couple of hours, but she was in the operating room for six."
The recovery forced Naomi to be absent for six months. Therefore, considering her age (37 years), the loss of an ovary, and the scars from previous surgeries, the couple thought it was almost impossible to conceive naturally.
The revelation also had an immediate impact on WWE's storyline. During Raw, Naomi appeared in the ring to announce the news and, in a character promo, vacated the Women's World Championship. The wrestler warned whoever becomes champion in the future to be careful when she returns. It remains to be seen how WWE will decide on the new champion.
