Bret Hart has once again been in the spotlight this past week for denouncing that WWE did not provide him with a seat at SummerSlam. These statements provoked some negative reactions, such as those from Big Vito, former WWE superstar, although he was not the only one. Kevin Nash also came forward to refute the version and clarify what happened.
During a recent interview, Hart stated that he was invited to the biggest event of the summer, but that upon arrival, he was informed that there was no reserved seat for him. For Hart, this episode is another example of WWE's lack of respect for his legacy in the business. The "Hitman" commented that, according to what he was told, Kevin Nash would have had a seat, hinting at preferential treatment for being one of Paul Levesque's trusted men. This statement fueled controversy surrounding the company's backstage.
However, on his podcast Kliq This, Nash completely denied that version. "I didn't go to the show because I knew I didn't have a seat. I guess someone mentioned my name and suddenly it seemed like Triple H's buddy had a seat," he stated ironically. The two-time Hall of Fame member explained that instead of attending SummerSlam, he held an autograph signing at MetLife Stadium between 1:30 and 3 in the afternoon. "That's all I did," he clarified.
Nash also explained that he called Bret to explain that he stopped attending events as a guest a long time ago. "I stopped going when they put me in a damn box and the monitor wasn't working. I'm not going to watch a show without commentary or the ability to fast forward," he pointed out.
At the moment, it is unknown when or if Bret Hart will return to appear in WWE. The only thing clear is that the Canadian feels he was sidelined at SummerSlam, while Nash denies having received any preferential treatment. The tension between these two legends leaves the relationship between the Hitman and the company up in the air.
