Philadelphia Street Fight
Josh Briggs vs. Yoshiki Inamura
Inamura and Briggs start the fight backstage. Josh takes his former friend to ringside, where the referee decides to start the match. Briggs charges at Yoshiki. He dodges, causing his opponent to hit the metal stairs. Inamura executes a dropkick. The impact sends Josh to the lower level, next to the audience barrier. The Japanese wrestler launches himself at his opponent with a flying tackle. The fans go wild.
Josh recovers to respond with a suplex, with his opponent's back landing on the floor. Briggs takes Inamura inside the ring. Josh pulls out several metal chairs from under the ring, which he doesn't hesitate to throw at his opponent. Briggs places a chair in one of the corners. Josh attacks the Japanese wrestler with another chair before fitting it into the opposite corner. Inamura prevents Briggs from doing it for the third time. Both men exchange attacks. Josh knocks out Yoshiki with a big boot.
Briggs applies a slam to Inamura, who lands on a chair. Yoshiki dodges a splash, causing his opponent to hit the chair. Inamura throws Josh against the two chairs fitted in the corners. Finally, he applies a powerslam on the chair still on the canvas. 1..2..NO. Inamura goes down from the ring to look for a kendo stick, but soon changes it for a baseball bat from the Philadelphia Phillies. The fans celebrate.
Inamura returns, only to be surprised with a chair shot. Briggs uses the bat to reinforce a Russian Leg Sweep on his opponent. Josh stomps on the bat, insulting the local team in this way. The fans boo him. A furious Inamura reacts to launch a counterattack. The Japanese wrestler applies several chops in one of the corners before executing a suplex. Briggs' back hits a chair. 1..2..NO.
Inamura introduces a trash can with which he hits Josh. He recovers to insert one of Yoshiki's legs into the can, preventing him from defending himself from a big boot. Briggs goes in search of more chairs and a protective barrier. With them, he prepares a "bed" in the center of the ring. Josh takes Yoshiki to the top of one of the corners to perform a tremendous superplex onto the "bed". The Japanese wrestler writhes in pain as he convulses.
Josh continues to introduce more weapons, including a kendo stick that he throws at his opponent. Briggs uses duct tape to tie Inamura's hands to the top rope. Josh uses the kendo stick to hit the back of a defenseless Inamura at will. Yoshiki breaks the ties to free himself. Josh kneels, asking for mercy, but he is only pretending to surprise the Japanese wrestler. He stops Josh's attack, breaking the kendo stick in two.
Inamura unleashes a flurry of attacks on Briggs, cornering him in one of the corners. Josh ends up lying on the canvas. Yoshiki places the trash can on his head to execute several chops. After that, he picks up the baseball bat to hit the can. Inamura applies an uranage to Briggs on the trash can. Yoshiki goes to get a table. Meanwhile, we see Josh bleeding from a cut above his eye.
Inamura sets up the table in the center of the ring, where he places Briggs. Yoshiki leaps with a frog splash, shattering the table in the process. 1..2..NO. The referee cleans Briggs' bloodied face while Inamura goes to get a second table. Yoshiki sets it up and goes back down the ring for another. This time, Josh prevents him from placing it, pushing the Japanese wrestler against the corner. Briggs applies a reinforced clothesline with a chain. Josh places Yoshiki on the second table to finish off his opponent with a moonsault. 1..2..3.
Winner: Josh Briggs
We see a video posted on social media, where Masha Slamovich held a virtual meeting with Ava and Santino Marella. Slamovich proposed to be the special referee for the tag team match between Fatal Influence and The Elegance Brand, promising them a fair and decisive victory. Ava thought it was a good idea. Marella wanted to make sure that Slamovich had no hidden motives and that she would be impartial. "I promise," replied Slamovich. "Okay, if you promise, I'll see you in Philly," said Ava. "See you in Philly," replied Masha as Santino nodded.
Sarah Schreiber interviews Trick Williams backstage. Williams boasts about his title defense against Moose -in his hometown- at TNA Emergence. That's why Je'Von Evans must be stupid if he thinks he can defeat him tonight. Trick acknowledges that his opponent is tremendously athletic, but he is still a child playing in an adult game. "Speaking of adults... Oba Femi, I'll see you on Sunday at Heatwave, where I'll make that NXT Championship mine. I'll become a three-time NXT champion. Let's talk about that," says Williams before leaving.
Ricky Saints vs. Jasper Troy
Ricky surprises Jasper with a kick to start his offense. Troy quickly stops Saints. He surprises him with a sleeperhold. Jasper kneels as he begins to fade. He stands up to throw himself back against several corners until he achieves his release. Saints dodges a charge from Troy to counter with a diving crossbody. Ricky tries to lean on the ropes to repeat the move, but a big boot from his opponent sends him to ringside.
Troy goes after Ricky to hit him with a headbutt. Jasper throws his opponent against the apron before taking him back inside the ring. Troy kicks Ricky in one of the corners before stomping on his head. The referee forces him to release his prey, provoking the fury of the Powerhouse. Troy applies a powerslam to Ricky. Jasper continues with a splash, followed by an elbowdrop.
Troy continues to punish his opponent, crushing him with the help of the ropes. Jasper throws Saints against one of the corners before stomping on him again. Troy traps Ricky in a painful submission hold. Saints frees himself to throw several kicks. Jasper stops his momentum with a tackle. Ricky dodges an elbowdrop to counter with several chops.
Saints traps Jasper in a submission hold. Troy frees himself, only to be surprised with a samoan drop. Jasper dodges a moonsault to then charge with his opponent against one of the corners. Troy applies several corner spears. Ricky dodges a new charge, causing his opponent to hit the corner.
The action moves to ringside. Jasper throws Saints against the metal stairs. Troy places his opponent on them before launching himself with a senton. Ricky dodges it, causing his opponent to land with his back on the stairs. Saints finishes him off with a tornado DDT. Ricky takes his opponent back inside the ring to apply a second -and definitive- tornado DDT. 1..2..3.
Winner: Ricky Saints
Hank Walker and Tank Ledger talk to Ava in the General Manager's office. The NXT Tag Team Champions want to know which members of DarkState they will face next Sunday at Heatwave. "I don't know yet," replies the General Manager. George Iceman interrupts, pointing out that he has an important matter to discuss with Ava, so he asks Hank and Tank to leave. Ava asks them to do so. Walker and Ledger obey.
Iceman officially presents The Elegance Brand (Ash By Elegance, Heather By Elegance, and M By Elegance) to the General Manager. After the presentation, Iceman asks Ava not to allow Masha Slamovich to referee the match tonight. "We are here to beg you not to let that disgusting Masha be the special referee tonight. She has very little experience as an official," says George. However, Ava informs him that the decision has already been made and cannot be changed. Ash, Heather, and M mock Masha as they see her appear in referee attire. Ava shakes hands with the Russian, who leaves with a smile. "Have you seen that look?", asks Iceman to Ava. "Is that the look of bias?", he adds. "It's just her face," Ava replies. Iceman leaves with his representatives, threatening to call their lawyers.
Jordynne Grace makes her entrance into the ring. With a microphone in hand, Grace recalls that she has been in countless locker rooms, earning a reputation before coming to NXT. Once here, she thought she would do the best she knows how to do: win championships. But it hasn't been like that. Jordynne acknowledges that she has some weaknesses, but she never thought that a friendship would make her step back. Grace became a wrestler 15 years ago, so she knows very well how friendships end in this business. "But every rule has an exception, right? So I thought, 'hey, maybe I'm the exception.' 'Maybe this is the exception.' A stupidity. I know. I know," says "The Juggernaut".
Jordynne admits that getting used to WWE has been a very tough process. Never before has anyone tried to exploit her insecurities, forcing her to talk about them publicly. At first, she was angry about it, but not anymore. Now she has a goal, and it's not to get revenge on Blake Monroe or prove that she's better than her. What she wants is for Monroe to see herself as she really is. "So, at Heatwave, I'll put a mirror in front of her to show her...", says Jordynne before being interrupted by the Brit.
Blake Monroe appears accompanied by a multitude of security guards, who take their positions. Monroe points out that security is here to prevent Grace from getting her redemption. "There is no redemption for the truth," says Blake as she enters the ring. Monroe approaches Jordynne to show her the contract for their match at NXT Heatwave. The document makes it clear that the fight will be canceled if Grace attacks Monroe before the event. "I've realized that I don't need to feel sorry for you, because clearly you already feel sorry for yourself. And that's enough for me," says Blake.
Jordynne reminds Monroe that only one of them fought in the historic second edition of WWE Evolution, while the other watched from ringside. "So, what I believe, Blake, is that you envy me. Evolution must have been a harsh reality check. You must not have liked it at all," says Grace. "Blake is envious!" chant the fans. "Blake, you're a disgusting snake...", Jordynne continues before being interrupted by the Brit.
"There it is. There it is. That's the JG we all know and despise. You can't control yourself, can you? You don't know how to calm down. You can't handle the pressure. You're just a stranger. You're a reject playing at being a superstar. And now that The Glamour has arrived, there's simply no room for both of us. Why you? Why not? Who's more pathetic?", asks the Brit. Grace approaches Monroe. She takes refuge behind her security. Blake reminds her that she can't touch her if she wants to face her at NXT Heatwave. Monroe provokes her to hit her. "Blake, I don't need to touch you to show you exactly what will happen at Heatwave," says "The Juggernaut" before attacking the security members. Jordynne applies a spinebuster on one of the men before expelling another from the ring with a clothesline. Grace turns to her next victim, but he decides to leave the ring, running like the devil towards backstage. Grace grabs Monroe's hand to speak directly into the microphone. "At Heatwave, I'll show you how true ugliness is," says Jordynne. She releases "The Glamour" to end the segment.
We move backstage, where Fatal Influence as a whole warm up before their match tonight. Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Jazmyn Nyx mock The Elegance Brand for considering themselves the best female faction in the business, as the truth is they are not at the level of Fatal Influence. Lainey Reid approaches Jacy to wish her luck. "Go out there and show them why you're the double champion," says Reid. "I'm about to," Jayne replies. Zaria and Sol Ruca appear on the scene. "Look who's here. The other double champion and her shadow," says Jacy to mock them. "Are you going to record another video for TikTok?," she asks. Ruca reassures her partner before advising Jayne to make the most of her time to take all the photos and videos she can with her two titles, because next Sunday she will no longer be a double champion. Fatal Influence head to the ring. Lainey approaches Sol. "You know what? At least Jacy defends her two titles," says Reid before leaving. Sol jokes as she holds her WWE Women's Speed Championship. "I think I have a need for speed," she says as she extends her hand to Zaria. She refuses to bump it. "Yes but no," says the Australian as she laughs at her partner's bad joke.
Sarah Schreiber interviews Je'Von Evans backstage. Evans doesn't want to think about what happened last week when Trick Williams abandoned his team, leaving them at the mercy of DarkState. Je'Von wasn't surprised by that, as Williams is a selfish man. And not only that, now he also knows that Evans can beat him. Je'Von has everything very clear. To get to Oba Femi, he must first defeat Trick, who aims to cover a lot: being the face of two brands, a rapper, and even an actor. He, on the other hand, only wants to be the NXT Champion. It's his only goal, and in 30 minutes he will continue to advance towards it when he meets Williams in the ring.
Tag Team Match (Masha Slamovich as special referee)
Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Jazmyn Nyx) vs. The Elegance Brand (Ash By Elegance, Heather By Elegance, and M By Elegance) (with George Iceman)
M and Fallon start the match. Henley kicks M before throwing her into her corner. Nyx tags in to work together with her partner. Jazmyn hits a springboard enziguri on M. 1..2..NO. M fires back and takes Nyx down with a kick. She then lifts Heather onto her shoulders and drops her onto Jazmyn with a splash. 1..2..NO.
Jacy tags in. Jayne squares off with Ash, trading shoves and roll-ups. Jacy throws Ash into her corner. She tags in Fallon, who keeps up the offense. Henley goes for momentum off the ropes, but George Iceman grabs her leg. Fallon turns to face The Personal Concierge, which allows Ash to catch her from behind. Fallon ends up at ringside. Masha, witnessing what happened, ejects Iceman, forcing him to head backstage.
Ash goes after Fallon and brings her back into the ring for the pin. 1..2..NO. Ash continues attacking Henley. M tags in to continue the assault, flooring Fallon with a big boot. 1..2..NO. M applies a Bow and Arrow submission to Henley. She escapes, only to be knocked down by a clothesline. M tags in Heather, who stomps on Fallon’s hands before hitting a DDT. 1..2..NO.
Heather targets Fallon near the ropes, prompting Masha to intervene. Ash takes advantage with an illegal kick to Fallon. Ash tags in and locks Henley in a headlock. Fallon escapes, only to be hit with a triple team attack. Heather covers Henley. 1..2..NO. Fallon dodges a moonsault from Heather, who crashes face-first into the mat. Both women are laid out. Heather and Henley crawl to their respective corners and tag in Jacy and M.
Jacy storms in, taking on all three opponents. Jayne lands a cannonball on M, followed by a senton. 1..2..NO. Fallon and Jazmyn team up to bring M down with a double facebuster. Jacy finishes with a knee strike. Jazmyn covers. 1..2..NO. Ash breaks the count. Ash throws Jayne and Fallon out of the ring.
M and Heather double-team Nyx. M holds Jazmyn in place as Heather hits a double stomp. Ash follows up with a running meteora. 1..2..NO. Jacy breaks the pin with a superkick. Chaos erupts. Fallon attacks M on the announce table. Masha approaches the ropes and orders them back into the ring.
Meanwhile, Ash hits a Swanton Bomb on Nyx. She covers her opponent, but Slamovich is still by the ropes. Ash yells at her. Masha quickly returns to count. 1..2..NO. Furious, Ash argues with Slamovich about the delay. Jazmyn crawls to tag in Jacy, who uses the distraction to surprise Ash with a Rolling Encore. 1..2..3.
Winners: Fatal Influence
The Elegance Brand confront Masha Slamovich, even going as far as to shove her. Meanwhile, Jayne celebrates on the entrance ramp with her two championships.
“Sunday will be the same. Double champ forever!” Jacy exclaims.
Charlie Dempsey approaches Kendal Grey to congratulate her on last week’s match. Charlie acknowledges Grey’s potential and wants to offer her some advice. Kendal reminds him that she has extensive experience in collegiate wrestling. Wren Sinclair joins the conversation, asking Dempsey what advice he intends to give someone with a 61-0 record. Charlie claims that if she had wrestled in college, her record might be 600-0.
The Culling arrive, prompting Kendal to leave. Izzi Dame mocks No Quarter Catch Crew and the recent breakup of its members. In fact, she says Dempsey is the only one left—Sinclair doesn’t count. Irritated, Dempsey says Wren could beat both Dame and Tatum Paxley in the ring.
“Yeah... wait, WHAT?” Wren replies, realizing what was just said.
“Don’t talk to my friend like that,” Tatum tells Charlie.
“Don’t worry. The more friends you lose, the more delusional you get. No one can save these two,” Izzi says before leaving with her teammates.
Wren turns to Dempsey, making it clear that a two-on-one match is not a good idea.
Chelsea Green and Ethan Page (with The Secret Hervice) make their way to the ring for the peace summit.
“All Ego” says they’ll do things the way the Philly nerds like it. With that, Page and Green take a seat while Alba Fyre and Piper Niven toss the table from the ring. Tavion Heights and Tyra Mae Steele are next to enter. Tyra wears her Olympic gold medal. “USA, USA,” chant the fans. Heights and Steele sit across from the Canadians.
The debate begins.
Ethan congratulates Tavion for achieving his goal—leaving No Quarter Catch Crew to go solo and become the “human weapon” he aims to be. But now, Tavion is looking at the greatest NXT North American Champion of all time. And when he does, he doesn’t see greatness—he sees something he wants to take. But that won’t happen.
Ethan reminds him that in the Olympics, there are multiple medals. In pro wrestling, there aren’t. There’s only one champion, and that’s him. Everyone else? Just losers.
Heights believes Page is underestimating him. Others have done the same before—and they ended up regretting it. “I’m blessed by the athletic gods of Mount Olympus and made in their image,” Tavion says. “You think I’m not hungry for greatness? Ethan, I want what’s on my plate and yours.”
Chelsea interrupts Heights, pointing out he shouldn’t disrespect her partner. Though, she’s not surprised—Heights is just like the rest of the Americans: rude. Green reminds everyone they’re here as representatives of Canada, a country clearly superior to the U.S. in every way: cleaner air, richer culture, beautiful mountains, and better athletes.
Tyra cuts her off, reminding her they’re in Philadelphia. And here, people say what they think. And what Tyra thinks right now is that Chelsea should shut her mouth. Green can’t believe that someone who claims to be an Olympic medalist would talk to her like that. Tyra corrects her: she doesn’t claim anything—she is a gold medalist. In fact, the first ever in WWE.
Chelsea fires back, reminding her that she’s the first ever U.S. Champion in history. Steele shows off her gold medal, saying it means she could take her out at any moment—and if Chelsea doesn’t believe her, she can ask The Secret Hervice.
Chelsea tries to de-escalate, saying they shouldn’t take things further—the goal was to negotiate peace. But Tavion interrupts, saying that won’t be possible. Philadelphia stands for American greatness, and they won’t let Ethan or Chelsea forget it. Page, furious, stands up to confront Heights. Green and Tyra join the shouting match.
Ava arrives on the scene. The General Manager says she’s not surprised by how the peace talks turned out. But she has another solution: This Sunday at NXT Heatwave, Page and Green will face Heights and Steele in a mixed tag team match.
Ethan and Chelsea quickly attack Tavion and Tyra, but the two recover and lock in simultaneous Ankle Locks. Alba and Piper grab Page and Green and throw them out of the ring. Tavion and Tyra celebrate in the ring as the segment comes to an end.
Backstage: Ricky Saints speaks with Myles Borne.
Borne admits he's surprised by Saints' win tonight. However, he wonders what’s going on with Josh Briggs. Ricky says he knows he has to keep an eye on a troublemaker like Josh—and not just on him, but on Myles too. Saints walks off, and Lexis King appears.
King says he’s not looking for a fight—he just wants to apologize. He knows it’s strange to see him say sorry, but he admits he messed up. He was insensitive about Myles’ condition and lost control after being beaten by him.
“To be honest, I didn’t know you could wrestle at that level being deaf and blind,” says King.
“Lexis, I’m deaf. Not blind,” replies Borne.
Lexis then pulls out a can of pepper spray and sprays it into Borne’s eyes. Myles drops to the floor screaming in pain.
“Now you are!” yells King.
Several officials rush in to help Myles.
Backstage: Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan talk.
Kelani says they were a great team last week, but at NXT Heatwave, she’s going to win and become the next #1 contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Lola asks what Kelani did this weekend—because she was busy wrestling in Triplemanía XXXIIII in front of 19,000 fans. Lash Legend enters. She says she saw Lola at the AAA event… losing.
“It sucks, but you know the feeling, right?” Vice replies.
Legend says Jaida Parker doesn’t deserve to be in the triple threat at NXT Heatwave—and honestly, neither do the other two. None of them compare to her.
Kelani reminds Lash that she doesn’t compare to Nia Jax, who beat her last week. In fact, she's surprised Lash can still walk after that.
Lash says that no matter who wins on Sunday, she’ll still be the biggest threat to the champion. She leaves.
“It doesn’t matter if Lash fights or not. I’m going to win,” says Jordan.
“No, mama. I will,” replies Lola. End of segment.
DarkState approach Ava backstage to brag about their win in last week’s main event. Osiris Griffin says they’ll destroy any team thrown their way, whether it’s from NXT or TNA.
Ava says she’s impressed—but also assumes they don’t want to talk about what happened afterward with Hank and Tank. Griffin insists they’ll deal with them once they take the tag titles.
Shaqon Shugars adds that no one is talking about anything but DarkState. No one cares about Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, or Joe Hendry…
“Say his name and he appears.”
Joe Hendry emerges from a locker.
“You asked for it,” Ava tells DarkState.
Hendry tells the faction he’s excited to see them compete on Sunday—though he’s curious who exactly will go for the gold.
Griffin replies that he’ll find out when the rest of the world does. Dion Lennox makes it clear: only they need to know.
“This is your first and only warning: either get with us or get left behind,” says Lennox.
“And you don’t want us behind you,” adds Cutler James before his teammates come back to drag him off.
“Why do you have to say it like that?” is heard in the background.
“What a strange dude,” says Hendry to Ava as the segment ends.
