After confirming that the agreement between WWE and ESPN will start earlier than expected, the sports giant has begun to make editorial moves on its website. One of the most striking is the disappearance of direct access to the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) section.
Until now, ESPN's wrestling section included dedicated sections for both WWE and AEW, where news, interviews, and analysis were archived. However, when trying to access the AEW category currently, an error message appears inviting the user to return to the main page.
Although it is still possible to find AEW articles through the internal search engine, the removal of the direct link seems to signal a change in editorial strategy. Everything points to ESPN wanting to prioritize its relationship with WWE and avoid giving visibility to direct competition.
It is worth noting that AEW never had a broadcasting agreement with ESPN, as its television rights in the United States belong to Warner Bros. Discovery, with presence on TNT and TBS, and also on the MAX platform. ESPN's coverage was limited solely to the informative field as a sports medium.
With this move, WWE not only gains a top-level media partner but also strengthens its presence on a global platform like ESPN, while AEW could see its visibility reduced in that space.
