In the midst of the transfer of WWE's PLE television contracts to ESPN, many doubted what would happen to their developmental brand. The issue came to a close yesterday when it was confirmed that NXT's special events will remain on Peacock. The NBC platform, which lost the rights to the main roster PLEs, has managed to retain those of the developmental brand. Additionally, in the last few hours, we have been able to learn about some of the strategies that the platform will employ with NXT.

Peacock will seek to mitigate the significant loss of dispensing with WWE's special events by increasing the PLEs of its developmental brand. According to PWInsider, the company plans to hold eight NXT PLEs per year, which would mean, for example, one more than the past year 2024.

So far, NXT has held four Premium Special Events this 2025. However, in addition to these, two more have already been announced: Heatwave, which will take place this Sunday, August 24, and No Mercy, on September 27.

In addition to these Peacock events, it is very common for NXT to hold weekly shows with special themes, which, while not reaching the level of what was once a PPV, do feature important matches and title defenses within the programming. This year, for example, New Year's Evil was broadcast on The CW, just like any other weekly program.

It is worth noting that the platform change to watch the product only applies in the United States. While fans in the North American country are already complaining about the excessive diversity of media to watch WWE shows, internationally Netflix holds all broadcasting rights.

Meanwhile, NXT continues to create stories within its programming. Many of them will culminate this Sunday at Heatwave
