Pat McAfee has been absent from the commentary table of Monday Night Raw for several weeks, sparking much speculation about his future in WWE. Now, Triple H has cleared any doubts and confirmed that McAfee will return at Wrestlepalooza on September 20th in Indianapolis.
During an interview with ESPN, WWE's Chief Content Officer emphasized the importance of McAfee's hometown and described him as part of the company's family. "Starting on September 20th at Wrestlepalooza, in the home of the one and only Pat McAfee, who is like family to us. Pat will be there, he's going to light the place up. It's going to be exciting. Indianapolis."
As previously reported, WWE always planned for McAfee to be off television due to his commitment to the college football season. During his absence, Corey Graves took his place and has received praise for his performance as a commentator. However, that position on Raw will be up for discussion with McAfee's return, as Graves fought hard and had to go through public opinion to regain it, especially after making statements about his status in the company.
With Wrestlepalooza just a month away, the big question is whether McAfee's participation will be a one-time return or if he will rejoin the commentary table for an extended period. What is clear is that his comeback adds even more anticipation to an event that will mark the beginning of WWE's new era alongside ESPN.
WWE has not yet confirmed any matches for Wrestlepalooza, although it is expected that we will start to learn about the matches following the Clash in Paris event, a premium WWE event taking place on August 31st in Paris, France.
