In many stages of its history, the women's division of AEW has always been one of its biggest shortcomings. Despite having memorable matches like the unsanctioned fight between Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa, the reality is that many times it has felt insufficient compared to other areas of the programming. Shortly after appearing on television, some stages of insufficient talent were added, which caused many fans to harshly criticize the product.

Fortunately, in recent times it seems that the situation has improved exponentially thanks to names like Willow Nightingale, Mercedes Moné, Jamie Hayter, or Athenea. A turning point was the memorable rivalry between "Timeless" Toni Storm and Mariah May, a feud that elevated the division to unprecedented levels.

In their last match, May and Storm collided at the Revolution event, leaving a Hollywood Ending that will go down in the history of women's wrestling in the United States. Unfortunately, the clash was in the middle of the card of a show that ended with a bad match between Jon Moxley and Adam Copeland. This angered large sectors of the community, who saw how All Elite missed a great opportunity to organize the first female main event in the company's history.

In an interview with Jon Alba, from SI Wrestling, the TBS Champion, Mercedes Moné, has spoken about this issue. Moné has admitted that one of the company's main goals in the short term is to have a PPV main event starring women. "That is my dream and goal for us. I don't think we are far from having a woman as the main protagonist of an AEW PPV," she declared.

Furthermore, the CEO admitted that the match she had with Toni Storm at All In is positioned as one of her favorite matches of her entire career. "You know, I was really praying and manifesting that All In would be me against Toni (Storm) in the main event. But, hopefully, when I have my rematch with her, that will be the main event," Moné added.

It is evident that if the company plans to close a PPV with a women's match, currently the best option seems to be to face its two female stars again. If the Moné vs. Storm from Texas was already a memorable clash, having their rematch headline a pay-per-view event would truly make it into the history books.
