Momo Watanabe is crowned the winner of the 2025 5 STAR GP tournament

World Wonder Ring Stardom has celebrated this morning the final day of the 5 STAR GP tournament. The show took place at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, which was sold out, where Momo Watanabe was crowned the tournament winner.

This morning's event featured the group finals and the grand final. A total of three matches with the four tournament finalists: AZM and Rina, representing the Red STARS group, and Watanabe and Saori Anou, representing the Blue STARS group. AZM was the first to secure her spot in the final by defeating Rina in a hard-fought match lasting over fifteen minutes. Meanwhile, Watanabe defeated Anou by applying a Peach Sunrise after fourteen minutes of battle.

The final, as expected, took place as the main event of the evening. Watanabe and AZM gave it their all in the ring, and after over twenty minutes of combat, the H.A.T.E. member was able to hit a Peach Thunder to defeat her opponent and thus become the tournament winner.

"Momo Watanabe is the winner! I have finally won after competing nine times. To all who have supported Momo Watanabe, thank you for waiting so long. To all of you with world titles, get ready for Momo Watanabe. The era of Momo Watanabe is here!" Watanabe said after her victory.

Thus, Momo Watanabe becomes the fourteenth winner of the 5 STAR Grand Prix. This has been her first victory in the tournament (in fact, no wrestler has won it more than once), thus making up for her defeat in 2021, when she reached the final only to lose to Syuri. Additionally, her victory takes place in the edition with the most participants in history (32).

With this victory, Watanabe will be able to challenge for one of the company's top two championships. On one hand, she could go for the STARDOM World Championship, currently held by her faction mate Saya Kamitani. Or she could opt for the World of STARDOM Championship, currently held by the leader of NEO GENESIS, Starlight Kid.
