Triplemanía XXXIII will go down in history as the first major AAA Wrestling event under the umbrella of WWE. The success of the show was reflected in a record attendance and views on Endeavor's YouTube channels. However, the event was not without controversy, once again due to the audience's anger over the absence of Alberto El Patrón.
Throughout the show, especially during the main event of the night and the segment where Konnan was recognized as a member of the AAA Hall of Fame, fans kept chanting "Alberto's" name. Rey Mysterio responded with a "I'll bring him out in a bit," leading many to believe El Patrón would make an appearance, which ultimately did not happen.
In the most recent episode of the Keep It 100 Podcast, Konnan discussed some of the highlights of Triplemanía XXXIII, including the chants in support of Alberto, whom he described as the best heel in any wrestling company.
"Alberto was, as I told you, brother, without disrespecting anyone, and if someone takes it that way, well. He was probably the best heel in any company, you know? So he and I worked perfectly together, we had the same vision of what we wanted to do," he said.
"I don't know if you heard, but people started chanting 'Alberto, Alberto!', and Rey Mysterio actually said, 'Don't worry, I'll bring him out later.' And he has so much credibility that they believed him... and erupted," he added.
Another of the most controversial moments occurred when Konnan argued with a fan, whom he repeatedly told to be quiet during his speech as a new member of the AAA Hall of Fame. Konnan pointed out that the fan was bothering Rey Mysterio's wife and daughter, something he was not willing to tolerate.
"Well, he was bothering everyone all night, right? But what really bothered me was that -I don't need to tell you because you know perfectly well- I love Aalyah, my goddaughter, and Angie. And they were arguing with him, so I said, 'You know what? Enough of this'," he explained.
"People could have reacted negatively, but everyone erupted because they thought, 'This guy deserves it.' Everyone around knew what was happening," he added.
