Xavier Woods competed against Penta in one of the matches that took place on the latest episode of WWE Raw. The fight ended when the masked wrestler executed a Mexican Destroyer on the member of The New Day. Everything seemed to have ended as planned, but there is a possibility that Woods may have suffered an injury in the final moments of the match, as reported by Fightful in their most recent report.
"Fightful received information that Xavier Woods told some people after the match that, unfortunately, his neck was 'bad'. The extent of the possible injury is not yet known, but a source claimed to have seen him later that same night wearing a neck brace. He was able to walk away on his own and, initially, it didn't seem serious, at least based on the fact that he was still active and continued with his night," the outlet wrote.
However, it could also be a kayfabe injury to add more drama to the rivalry he currently has with the Mexican wrestler. Woods himself hinted at this in a recent video on his social media, although it is not yet possible to confirm it 100%.
"We will continue to investigate to obtain more information, but if he is truly injured, we wish Xavier Woods a speedy recovery. He himself posted a video indicating that it could be a storyline and cut a promo about the dangers of the package piledriver, but he was selling the injury all night, even in restaurants after the show," Fightful wrote about it.
If that's the case, Woods would be following in the footsteps of Seth Rollins, who recently faked a knee injury to deceive fans and his fellow wrestlers and then cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase by surprise on CM Punk in the main event of SummerSlam Saturday.
It is worth noting that Woods remained motionless on the mat after receiving the Mexican Destroyer from Penta, although everything seemed to indicate that he was just selling the attack. Next Monday, we will know more about it on the red brand show taking place in Birmingham, England.
