John Cena's retirement tour is in its final stretch, however, it has experienced some adjustments along the way, as some opponents have been removed. According to a report by Billi Bhatti on the Dirty Sheets Wrestling Informer podcast, several important names from the list of rivals had to be removed from the planning.

Among the names that were considered as possible opponents for Cena, are Kevin Owens, who is currently injured, and Adam Copeland, who is now part of AEW. However, the biggest surprise was that AJ Styles was also on the list, but it seems that his match against the 17-time world champion has been removed from the plans. According to Bhatti, this match will no longer take place.

The showdown between John Cena and AJ Styles was one of the most desired by fans, as their rivalry is considered one of the best in recent years. It became an important point for SmackDown after the 2016 brand split. Both left a series of memorable matches, with their individual match record tied at 2-2.

The reason AJ Styles was removed seems to be the match between Cena and Brock Lesnar at WrestlePalooza on September 20, a match that has not yet been made official, but is highly anticipated. The addition of a match of this caliber for Cena's retirement tour would have been the main reason for Styles' removal from the plans.
