Since leaving WWE, Ricochet has become one of the biggest detractors of the company, which he has not hesitated to criticize on multiple occasions. While it is true that many see this attitude as just another facet of his new heel character in All Elite Wrestling, it is also true that some of his comments have generated a lot of controversy in recent months, such as his argument with NXT talent Je'Von Evans.
The latest controversy has arisen, once again on X (previously known as Twitter). It all started when an AEW fan asked Ricochet to stop talking about his matches in Tony Khan's company before WWE haters attack him. "Ric, stop. The tribalists are going to come after you and say that all your matches in the company were crap", wrote user CapybaraTweetz.
"Yes, most of them were crap. But, how are you going to have a good match in a 3-minute bout, in a single segment, with entrances included and on top of that I have to make the other person shine because I make people look better than they really are? Of course it's going to be crap," Ricochet replied.
Controversies aside, Ricochet is experiencing one of the best stages of his professional career in All Elite Wrestling, where he has become one of the most hated heels in the company. His change in attitude has not only resonated with fans, but has also revitalized his character, very different from the one he portrayed during his time in WWE.
He recently formed an alliance with Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona), debuting as a faction in AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where they defeated JetSpeed (Kevin Knight and "Speedball" Mike Bailey) and Michael Oku at the Zero Hour of the PPV. Despite his relevance in the company's television programming, Ricochet has not yet won a championship there. A goal that the wrestler hopes to achieve sooner rather than later.
