After a successful weekend of Forbidden Door, the AEW stories continue their path towards All Out in Toronto. During the most recent Dynamite show, the first match for the big event was confirmed: the hometown heroes, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, will face off against FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler).
Tension took over the start of the show when FTR and Stokely Hathaway came out to the ring to complain about their defeat in Forbidden Door. Dax Harwood, amidst the boos from the audience, claimed an injustice in the match , stating they were covered by an illegal wrestler. Dax confronted referee Paul Turner and demanded the decision be reversed. After the referee's refusal, Stokely insulted and pushed him, escalating the chaos in the ring.
As the situation was about to spiral out of control, Adam Copeland appeared in the ring. To everyone's surprise, Christian Cage appeared out of nowhere and attacked Stokely Hathaway, sparking a confrontation between both teams. After being separated by security personnel, Copeland issued the official challenge: Copeland and Cage will face FTR at AEW All Out on September 20, in their hometown of Toronto.
The story between Adam Copeland and FTR dates back to the beginning of the year, when the alliance known as Rated FTR was formed with the goal of facing The Death Riders. However, the partnership collapsed when Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler betrayed Copeland, feeling that their union was what was preventing them from winning the Tag Team Championships. After their betrayal, Copeland returned at All In to confront them and now that he has reconciled with his friend Christian Cage, he seeks revenge.
