Live Report of WWE SmackDown August 29, 2025

WWE SmackDown on Netflix begins!

We see the arrival of some of tonight's protagonists at the venue: MFT in full and Sami Zayn.

Wade Barrett and Michael Cole welcome us to the show before airing a promotional video of the rivalry between John Cena and Logan Paul, highlighting what happened last week on the blue brand.

We see a car arriving at the venue. From inside it comes Logan Paul, who is greeted with boos from the audience. Paul heads inside the building. As soon as he crosses the Gorilla Position curtain, "The Maverick" is booed by the fans again. Logan heads to the ring, where he asks for a microphone. The level of boos increases. "John Cena said he thinks I'm a parasite. Hey, it seems like you guys think the same," says Logan before pointing out that he will continue speaking in his native language - English - even if the fans don't understand him.

Paul makes it clear that the fans don't have a problem with him, but with change. "I'm not a parasite. In fact, I'm the opposite: I'm a disruptor," says "The Maverick." "Fuck you, Logan!" chants the audience. Paul assures that he came to WWE with the purpose of changing the industry. The $5 billion deal with Netflix? It was thanks to him. The $1.6 billion deal with ESPN? Also. A total of $6.6 billion that the company earned thanks to "The Maverick." His value to the company is immeasurable. "You're welcome, TKO," he says. The fans continue to boo him.

Logan believes they are stupid, as they don't understand that he only brings things to WWE, like the PRIME sponsorship. Paul points out that he represents the new style of WWE. One that clashes head-on with the old style, whose greatest representative - perhaps the only one left - is John Cena. He advised him last week to bring his best to WWE Clash in Paris. But he won't just do that. He will take "The Greatest of All Time" to the limit. He will show him that he's not an "outsider," and to everyone else that he is the future of this industry.

John Cena bursts onto the scene!

"The Greatest of All Time" is greeted with a great ovation. John runs into the ring. "Cena, Cena, Cena!" chants the audience. John asks Mark Nask to introduce him properly in his last appearance in Lyon. After that, Cena asks for a microphone. John calls Paul stupid for not understanding the key role that fans play in WWE, as the audience holds the key to the success of the superstars. Cena is convinced that Logan has the potential to take the company to new heights, but he will never understand what they really do in WWE. Because if he understood the business, he would know he's not a "disruptor," but an imitator of a true "disruptor".

John assures that Paul has lost influence. The seventeen-time world champion recalls that yesterday he read a list of the 25 most prominent influencers today, and Logan wasn't on it. In fact, Paul was desperate, and that's why he signed with WWE. "You're not here to save wrestling. You're here to save your own ass," says Cena. "These people don't fear change, buddy. These people just know what's fake," he adds. The fans chant in French. Cena and Logan address them in the local language, with "The Maverick" ensuring he knows more French than his enemy.

Cena claims to be a genuine guy, unlike Logan. And everyone sees it. John recalls that WWE has offered him many opportunities. And what has the company received in return? No respect. But John will teach him what that means. Cena steps out of the ring and starts walking down the entrance ramp to meet the fan he offended in Belgium a few months ago. John apologizes as the kid rushes to record the moment with his smartphone. "Hey, I'm sorry. I had a bad day. Thank you for being there for me when I needed it most. I love you too," "The Greatest of All Time" says before returning to the ring.

Logan mocks John, pointing out that this segment has turned into a "Make A Wish" space. John tells him to shut up, reminding him that it was he who wanted this match at Clash in Paris. Now we have the "Missing" against the "Disappointment," the "Paragon" against the "Parasite," "The Greatest of All Time" against Logan Paul. "You asked for this match, and you better polish your style. You have 24 hours to become the best they've ever seen, because if after Sunday they still think you're not worthy, you won't change wrestling. Hell, you won't even ruin wrestling! Wrestling will ruin you!," exclaims Cena as he points his index finger at Logan's chest. John throws the mic on the canvas to leave the ring. John greets the fans as he returns backstage. Paul, for his part, watches his rival with a serious and silent face. And so we reach the end of the first segment of the night.

Cathy Kelly interviews The Street Profits and B-Fab backstage. Cathy asks them about their match tonight. Angelo Dawkins responds that they are one step closer to the WWE Tag Team Championships and that's all they are focused on right now. Montez Ford, on the other hand, points out that their opponents tonight are doing well, but Carmelo Hayes is not "HIM" and The Miz is "all talk." B-Fab reminds them that, unlike Melo Don't Miz, The Street Profits are a real team, as they have been together for eight years. Bo Dallas appears on the scene. Kelly quickly leaves the place. Dallas acknowledges that eight years is a long time, but wonders if the blood running through their veins makes them a real family. Because The Wyatts Sicks sure are. All the teams that face them end up failing. That's when they find out if the partner by their side is truly their brother. Bo leaves, leaving Ford and Dawkins looking at each other in complete silence.

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss make their entrance, ready for their title defense against Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre. Suddenly, Green attacks Flair's left leg, causing her to fall on the entrance ramp! Fyre attacks Alexa. Chelsea joins her partner. "The Queen" tries to get up, but Alba knocks her out with a superkick. The Scottish woman continues to attack Flair's injured leg. Meanwhile, several officials try to restore order. And so we reach a new commercial break.

Alexa Bliss vs. Chelsea Green (with Alba Fyre)

Alexa charges at Chelsea to unleash a flurry of attacks. Bliss prepares to apply a Sister Abigail, but Fyre distracts her from the apron. Furious, Alexa goes after the Scottish woman to hit her. Green takes Bliss back into the ring, but her opponent quickly regains the advantage. Alexa knocks down Green to apply a senton, but the Canadian dodges it.

Green slaps Alexa, who responds in kind. Chelsea corners Bliss in one of the corners. Green punishes her opponent with the help of the ropes before delivering a pump kick. The fans boo her. Alexa throws her rival out of the ring. Fyre approaches her partner to check on her condition, at which point Alexa jumps on the Scottish woman with a cannonball. Green takes advantage to catch Bliss, whom she throws against the metal stairs.

Chelsea takes her opponent back into the ring to continue hitting her. Green executes several clotheslines before applying a headlock. Alexa frees herself to throw several elbows in the corner. Green grabs her by the hair to throw her to the mat. After that, she throws her out of the ring, where Alba kicks her while the Canadian distracts the referee. Bliss returns, only to receive an enziguri.

Green seeks height to launch herself with a diving dropkick. Alexa ends up ringside. Chelsea goes after her to hit her against the commentator's table. Alexa recovers to throw her rival against the public barrier. Both women return before the referee counts to ten. Alexa and Chelsea exchange attacks. Bliss takes the advantage, applying a dropkick, followed by a neckbreaker. 1..2..NO.

The action continues. Green surprises Bliss with a neckbreaker. 1..2..NO. Chelsea seeks height, but Bliss makes her fall, leaving her hanging by her legs. Alexa hits her with a dropkick. Now it's Bliss who seeks height. Alba climbs onto the apron to distract her. Alexa gets rid of the Scottish woman before executing a Twisted Bliss on Green, but she receives it with her knees. Both women try to finish off the other, but end up blocking each other's finishers. Finally, Bliss surprises the Canadian with a roll-up. 1..2..3.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

Alexa pretends to attack Chelsea, who reproaches her on her knees in the ring. Bliss decides to leave the ring, only to be surprised by Alba, who applies a superkick! The Scottish woman takes Alexa back into the ring. Fyre and Green launch an assault on Bliss.

Charlotte Flair heads to the ring, limping, to help her partner!

"The Queen" gets rid of Alba ringside before entering the ring, where she unleashes a rain of chops on Chelsea. Fyre returns to surprise Charlotte with a Rope Guillotine. Green catches a disoriented Flair to apply the Unpretty-Her. Meanwhile, Alba finishes off Bliss with a Gory Bomb. The heels pose with their victims before leaving the ring. And so we reach the end of this segment.

Cathy Kelley interviews Sami Zayn backstage. The Canadian feels renewed since returning to SmackDown. Sami acknowledges that he had too much on his mind when he was on Raw, where he didn't feel like the best version of himself. Now he is full of confidence and promises the fans in Lyon that tonight they will have a new United States Champion. "¡Sami, Sami!" chants the audience.

Aleister Black delivers a video promo to address Damian Priest. "What did you think was going to happen now, Priest? Maybe it's time for me to take off my mask and show you what Hell is. Because obviously, the violence is going to escalate. But perhaps, once I cut the cord of mortality from your skin, I can show the whole world how lost and empty you are. And when you sit at home at night and feel that pressure on your chest, when you can't move your arms and you feel paralyzed, that will be me, Damian Priest, on your chest, whispering: 'I warned you'," says the Dutchman.

Cathy Kelley interviews Damian Priest backstage. Damian acknowledges that Aleister Black is a polite guy, both in his way of speaking and in his fighting style. The Dutchman has been trained in mixed martial arts, and he found out firsthand when Black almost broke his face a few weeks ago. However, unlike Aleister, he doesn't make empty threats. Priest promises to teach Black a lesson, because sooner or later they will meet again in the ring, and he will enjoy every moment of violence. Damian hands it over to Cole and Barrett before leaving to end the interview.

Michin vs. Kiana James (with Giulia)

James tries to hit Michin with her purse. Michin dodges it to respond with a roll-up. 1..2..3.

Winner: Michin

Michin celebrates her quick victory when suddenly she is kicked by Giulia. "The Beautiful Madness" and James team up to launch a two-on-one assault. Kiana immobilizes Michin so Giulia can apply a knee strike. Michin ends up ringside, where she continues to be attacked by her enemies. Giulia throws her against the public barrier before repeatedly hitting her head against it. "The Beautiful Madness" immobilizes Michin on the metal stairs to apply a stomp. Michin's head hits the stairs. Giulia and Kiana pose over their victim to end this segment.

Drew McIntyre makes his entrance. The Scotsman looks under the ring skirt to make sure Randy Orton is not hiding there. Drew heads to the commentary table to check if "The Viper" is not there either. After asking Michael Cole if there is any medical update on Cody Rhodes, McIntyre heads into the ring. "Bonjour," says the Scotsman. "Randy, if you face me like a man, I'll fight you. I just want to talk and give France what they want. Come out here and let them sing your song," he adds.

"The Viper" makes his entrance.

The fans sing the theme "Voices" as Randy heads to the ring. Orton signs a fan's poster while still enjoying the audience's reception. Randy takes his time as Drew waits patiently in the ring. Orton enters the ring. "Randy, Randy!" chants the fans.

Drew speaks, hoping Randy will listen to him. McIntyre can understand that Orton attacked him last week as revenge for his defeat at SummerSlam. But he wouldn't understand if he did it to defend Cody Rhodes, as he is not his friend. In fact, Rhodes is not a friend to anyone. Cody is nothing but a liar and a manipulator. McIntyre recalls the days when Randy was injured and had to undergo back surgery. Yes, Cody was concerned about his condition, but not because he cared about him, but because he wanted to gather information he could use against him in the future. And that's exactly what happened in the King of the Ring tournament when Orton hesitated to hit Cody with a Punt Kick, but he didn't think twice about attacking his back.

Orton takes the floor. "Drew, your argument is very convincing. You've given me something to think about. But if you think I knocked you down last week for Cody, you're very wrong. Drew, I knocked you down last week because I think you're a numbskull," says "The Viper" as he approaches the Scotsman. He responds with a Glasgow Kiss! McIntyre waits for Orton to stand up to launch a Claymore, but "The Viper" dodges the attack. Randy counters with a Modified DDT. Orton prepares to execute an RKO, but Shane Helms, a referee, and two security members appear to prevent it. Randy gets rid of the security with two RKOs. Helms remains in the ring, fearful of receiving the same punishment. Orton reassures him, only to execute the feared RKO! Randy prepares to finish off Drew with a Punt Kick, but the Scotsman escapes just in time. Orton and McIntyre exchange words and threats as the segment comes to an end.

Carmelo Hayes approaches The Miz backstage. Hayes hopes what happened in the past few weeks doesn’t happen again and that his partner won’t steal the victory. The Miz doesn’t see the problem, reminding him that he’s had more wins in the last two weeks than Hayes had the entire time he was off TV. Carmelo can play that game too and reminds him he’s also been winning more since teaming up with him. "So, who's helping who?" Melo asks. The Miz says it’s not about “you or me,” but “us.” Now they’re partners, a team. And if they win tonight, they’ll get a title opportunity, which is exactly what Hayes wants. They’ve got chemistry. They’ve got magic. They’ve got the chance to achieve something big. So they need to enjoy the moment and make it clear that they are... Bo Dallas appears on the scene. "There are always different points of view, but perception isn’t reality. I am. Can you handle that?" Bo asks. “Don’t make promises of reality you can’t keep,” Melo replies. Dallas laughs and leaves. “Hey, let’s handle this. US,” Carmelo says to The Miz. They fist bump as the segment ends.

We see Nick Aldis confronting Randy Orton in his office for attacking security guards again. "I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Listen, it’s just that sometimes, it’s fun being bad,” Orton says as he hands him a small bottle of Fireball whiskey as compensation. Nick examines it as “The Viper” walks out of the General Manager’s office. R-Truth walks in and asks Aldis if he’s going to drink it. Nick says that, given the day he’s had, yes, he will. “You don’t have anything else? Sorry,” R-Truth says before walking away.

Angelo takes advantage of the distraction to punch The Miz, sending him to ringside. Dawkins and Montez hit a combo sit-out powerbomb + neckbreaker on Hayes. 1..2..3.

Winners: The Street Profits

The Wyatt Sicks enter the ring to confront their new challengers. After a few seconds, Uncle Howdy signals his teammates to leave the ring. The segment ends.

Jade Cargill approaches Tiffany Stratton backstage. Cargill informs the WWE Women’s Champion that, after pinning Nia Jax last week, Nick Aldis has officially named her the new #1 contender. Tiffany congratulates her but reminds her that if she hadn’t shown up to help, things might have ended differently. Jade tells her to stop acting like she’s the biggest threat in the SmackDown women’s division. Stratton insists that with or without her help, she would’ve beaten Nia because, last she checked, she’s still undefeated in 2025. "Undefeated, huh? I could teach you a thing or two about that," Cargill replies. "When I beat you, it’ll be over — all this fantasy that you and I were ever on the same level,” she adds before walking off.

Solo Sikoa speaks with his MFT partners in the arena parking lot. Sikoa makes it clear that Sami Zayn won’t get what he wants. He won’t take the United States Championship — especially not on the brand they run. "That’s not gonna happen. Because with just one shot to the throat — boom! Sami, it’s over. 1..2..3. And still United States Champion, Solo,” says the Samoan to close the brief promo.

Sikoa and Sami exchange strikes in the corner. Zayn surprises the champion with a sunset flip sit-out powerbomb. 1..2..NO. Sami climbs the ropes to launch himself at his opponent. Sikoa dodges and counters with a samoan drop, followed by an Uso Splash. 1..2..NO. Sikoa sets up for a Samoan Spike. Sami dodges and rolls him up. 1..2..NO.

Zayn delivers an exploder suplex into the corner. The Canadian sets up for the Helluva Kick, but the champion stops him with a superkick. Sami avoids another Samoan Spike. The momentum sends Solo crashing into the corner, where he eats an improvised Helluva Kick.
