The wait is finally over. After months of postponement, Ring of Honor has finally revealed the tournament bracket that will determine the first Pure Women's Champion in history. The competition kicked off tonight with Queen Aminata defeating Taya Valkyrie in the first quarter-final match at ROH Death Before Dishonor.
Prior to the show, Tony Khan, president of All Elite Wrestling, announced the start of the tournament and the participants. In total, eight women will compete in the tournament, which will follow a classic single-elimination structure in three phases. Below is the bracket and the matchups leading up to the tournament final.
Among the announced women, Queen Aminata, Taya Valkyrie, Serena Deeb, and Deonna Purrazzo were confirmed back in April when the new tournament was introduced. Leila Grey was also announced but ultimately will not compete. She had her last match a couple of weeks ago at an independent wrestling event, and there is no indication of any injury.
The tournament began tonight with the match between Queen Aminata and Taya Valkyrie. The dates and locations for the upcoming matches are currently unknown, as well as which show will host the tournament final where the first ROH Pure Women's Champion will be crowned.
