Even though WWE ended its contract with Peacock seven months earlier than planned, NBC Sports assures that there is no resentment whatsoever. On the contrary: the company has thanked WWE for the trust placed in them when the platform was just starting out.
Rick Cordella, president of NBC Sports, shared a message on social media after Clash in Paris, where Michael Cole publicly thanked Peacock for their time as a PLE partner. Cordella took the opportunity to thank WWE, Nick Khan, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon "for believing in Peacock five years ago, when we were just launching the service. But this is not a goodbye."
The executive also announced that the partnership with WWE will continue: "We are excited to remain partners with WWE, with Saturday Night Main Events being essential in the coming years."
As part of the contract restructuring, ESPN will take over WWE's PLE in the United States starting in September 2025, instead of April 2026 as initially announced. Meanwhile, Peacock will become the exclusive platform for the quarterly Saturday Night Main Event specials starting in November, as part of a multi-year agreement that also includes archived episodes of SmackDown 30 days after airing on the USA Network.
WWE's archived content will remain available on Peacock until the end of the year, while the NXT PLEs will continue to be broadcast on the platform until March 2026, the original contract's end date.
