After more than a year of absence due to an injury, the former AEW World Champion, Riho, made her long-awaited return to All Elite Wrestling programming on the recent edition of Dynamite. Her comeback was one of the most impactful moments of the night, as Riho wasted no time and confronted multiple champion, Mercedes Moné, directly.
Moné defended the TBS Championship during tonight's show against Alex Windsor. The match was a back-and-forth battle from the start, with both wrestlers seeking the advantage. Moné imposed her aggressiveness with a Powerbomb on the edge of the ring and several knee strikes, but Windsor showed her resilience with a series of impactful kicks and a DDT that almost secured her the victory.
The pace of the match intensified in the final moments, with both exchanging their best moves in a flurry of action. Windsor managed to surprise the champion with a Driver that came close to giving her the win. However, in a quick exchange of pins, Mercedes Moné managed to turn the situation around to claim the victory, successfully defending her title.
After the match, Moné refused to shake hands with Alex Windsor and continued her attack. Just when it seemed like the situation wouldn't improve, Riho's music hit, signaling her long-awaited return. The former AEW champion launched a Foot Stomp on Moné and ejected her from the ring, confronting her directly and saving Windsor. Later in the show, it was confirmed that Riho will face "The CEO" with the TBS Championship on the line.
