Tomorrow a new episode of WWE SmackDown will take place in the city of Chicago. The show will feature the confirmed presence of CM Punk and John Cena, as well as the rumored appearance of AJ Lee in what would be her official return to the company after a decade of absence. However, the surprises wouldn't end there. According to a new report from Fightful, Brock Lesnar would also be present at the event.
"Fightful Select has reported that Brock Lesnar has been scheduled to travel to Chicago this week. The Friday episode of SmackDown is broadcast from that city, and sources within WWE they spoke to said that the possibility of Lesnar appearing on the show was discussed. According to WrestleVotes, it is expected to be John Cena's last SmackDown. Both are scheduled to face each other at WWE Wrestlepalooza on September 20, although that match has not been officially announced yet," the media wrote.
"From what we have heard, WWE wants to load this episode of SmackDown with stars, as part of a strategy to also boost the Wrestlepalooza card, which they have intentionally enhanced as well. It is rumored within WWE that Lesnar is scheduled to arrive in Chicago on Thursday," the report concluded.
Brock Lesnar was one of the big surprises of SummerSlam 2025. "The Beast Incarnate" unexpectedly appeared in the final minutes of the second day of the "Biggest Event of the Summer" to attack John Cena, hinting at a rivalry that could culminate in a match at Wrestlepalooza.
Taking into account all the rumors that have emerged in the last few days, it is expected that the next episode of SmackDown will give us headlines in the form of announcements for the Indianapolis event. On the other hand, it is worth noting that Lesnar has been locally announced to appear on the episodes of the blue brand on September 12 and 19, the two prior to Wrestlepalooza.
