The classic animated series “Hulk Hogan’s Rock’n’Wrestling” will be part of the WWE Vault on YouTube catalog. WWE has confirmed that the episodes will begin airing starting on Saturday, September 6, with four installments each week in the morning. The release will be in chronological order, with episodes available at 6, 8, 10, and 12 A.M. ET (Eastern Time).
Originally broadcast between 1985 and 1986, the series featured Hogan and a group of babyface wrestlers facing off in fun situations against a team of villains led by “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. The cast of characters also included Andre the Giant, Junkyard Dog, Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, The Iron Sheik, and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, among others, in addition to the commentator Mean Gene Okerlund. Interestingly, none of the wrestlers provided their own voices for the show, and actor Brad Garrett portrayed Hogan.
The first episodes that will be available on the channel are: “Junkyard 500/Junkenstein”, “The Four-Legged Pickpocket”, “Clean Gene/Andre’s Giant Problem”, and “Gorilla My Dreams”. A total of 26 episodes of the series were produced.
The period in which the series aired coincided with the media boom of Hulk Hogan in the 80s, when he was the face of WWF (now WWE) and an icon of popular culture in the United States. At that time, Hogan starred in advertising campaigns, appeared on television shows, and led the so-called Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Connection, which aimed to bring professional wrestling to a mass audience by connecting with mainstream music and entertainment.
The arrival of Rock’n’Wrestling on the channel comes at a time filled with nostalgia, as it occurs just over a month after the death of Hulk Hogan at the age of 71 in Clearwater, Florida.
WWE Vault, launched in June 2024, has become a phenomenon on the platform with nearly three million subscribers and over 217 million monthly views. The channel offers everything from classic matches and unseen footage to documentaries and live broadcasts of historic events, also involving fan interaction to decide what content to publish.
