Metehan, formerly known as Mike D. Vecchio, has practically confirmed what was an open secret: his arrival to WWE. The former wXw Shotgun champion had been surrounded by rumors about his signing for months, and after the farewell organized by Westside Xtreme Wrestling at their Shortcut To The Top event last August, everything pointed to his destiny being in the McMahon's company.
In a recent interview with Dan Mallmann, Metehan spoke for the first time about the decision and how his closest circle has received it. The wrestler explained that his family understands the step he is taking, although they still find it hard to accept that he is leaving Germany permanently. "They realize it, but I don't know if they really realize it. Sometimes when I talk to them I say, 'I'm sorry, but I will never come back'. Maybe in 10 or 15 years," he confessed.
The German highlighted especially the reaction of his father, proud that his son fulfills the dream of reaching WWE. "My father is proud like never before. I told him he could take it easy and in the end he told the whole city. My mother is too attached to me and I think she still hasn't fully accepted it. But of course they are proud, they have always been there," he related.
Although WWE has not yet issued an official statement, Metehan's words and the farewell at his original promotion confirm that his signing is already a reality.
However, it doesn't seem like he will be the only arrival to WWE from Europe. Spanish wrestler Zozaya could also be arriving very soon to WWE. At the end of August, at the RevPro XIII Anniversary Show event, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Zozaya in a singles match, which served as a farewell for the wrestler.
