The original plan for John Cena's retirement tour has taken a different direction. As reported by PWInsiderElite.com, the upcoming Saturday Night's Main Event in December, which will mark Cena's final match, will be broadcast from Washington, DC via Peacock. This means that the initial idea of Cena's definitive farewell taking place in Boston has been ruled out.
WWE had initially announced that Cena's last match would happen at the December 10 Saturday Night's Main Event in Boston. However, after confirming that his last appearance at the TD Garden would be on November 10 during Monday Night Raw, plans changed. The December event remains on the schedule, but it will not be in Boston or the New England area.
In fact, John Cena's own father had mentioned in local Boston media that the original intention was for his son to end his career in the city where he rose as a wrestling star. Ultimately, the company has decided to pivot towards a different setting for his definitive goodbye.
Sources from WWE have indicated that Saturday Night's Main Event will still take place in December, although it will no longer be held in Boston. It is also noted that the new location will likely not be in the New England area either.
With this change, Washington, DC becomes the new venue for an event that is already highly anticipated. Fans now await to see how this final match will be presented and who will be the chosen opponent to close the last chapter of one of WWE's greatest legends.
