One of the topics of conversation among WWE fans in recent months has been related to one of its biggest superstars, AJ Styles, and his possible departure from the company. The wrestler himself fueled the rumors last month when he hinted that his participation in SummerSlam could be the last of his professional career.
"The Phenomenal One" became a trend again after a recent post where he showed an emoji of an hourglass, which many have interpreted as an inevitable countdown that would end with his farewell from WWE or his retirement as a professional. In this regard, the specialized media Fightful has delved into the topic to learn more details about the current status of the wrestler with WWE.
"Earlier this year, there was much speculation about AJ Styles' contract and when it was scheduled to expire. Fightful Select learned, through people close to Styles, that his contract was extended for a year. We have been informed that WWE expects to retain him after that period, but will evaluate the situation and his interest in continuing," the media wrote.
"What we didn't know at that time was when exactly the contract expired, or how long the agreement lasted. Sources close to Styles indicated that the contract ends around February 2026, which would mean it expires after Royal Rumble and before WrestleMania season. Styles has long talked about the possibility of retirement, but lately has not mentioned the topic much, and his performance in the ring has not been affected," the report concluded.
Despite the insinuations and cryptic messages, the truth is that AJ Styles is having more fun than ever in WWE. In addition to a rivalry with Dominik Mysterio that has brought out the playful side of the former WWE champion, he has also been able to return to TNA Wrestling as part of the current alliance between both companies. Furthermore, he was the most cheered wrestler by the audience in Paris on the last episode of WWE Raw.
