In a special edition of SmackDown from Chicago, a huge surprise occurred when one of the most beloved WWE wrestlers made her long-awaited return. After more than a decade, AJ Lee appeared in the main event to attack the Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch.
In the main event, Seth Rollins addressed the audience alone, only to earn their hatred, insulted the local teams, and proudly introduced his wife, the Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch, who lashed out at the fans for chanting AJ Lee's name and proclaimed herself the greatest wrestler of all time.
However, Becky was interrupted by CM Punk, who entered the ring to confront her directly, assuring her that the issue was not with her, but with her husband. Nevertheless, Becky mocked him and his defeat, even daring to insult his family and friends present at the venue. The tense segment quickly escalated when Becky Lynch slapped CM Punk and continued to attack him.
Without physically retaliating, CM Punk stepped back, assuring Becky Lynch that he would never attack her, but that he had someone who would. At that moment, AJ Lee made her stunning return to WWE amidst a huge ovation, AJ made her typical entrance and launched herself at Becky Lynch. The segment ended with the Intercontinental Champion and Seth Rollins fleeing, while AJ and Punk celebrated in the ring, just like old times.
AJ Lee joined WWE in 2009 and spent two years in their developmental territory, FCW, before being promoted to the main roster. Her rise to fame came in 2012 thanks to a character that stood out from the other female wrestlers. Throughout her career, Lee won the Divas Championship three times, served as the General Manager of RAW, and won the Slammy Award for Diva of the Year in 2012 and 2014, but despite her success, she retired in 2015, until now.
