Bryan Danielson recently returned to the television programming of All Elite Wrestling, but not as many would have wished. "The American Dragon" did not come back to compete, but to take on a new role as a commentator during the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event. A role he will continue to play on AEW Dynamite starting tomorrow night.

Tony Khan was asked about the topic in a recent appearance on Battleground Podcast. The president of All Elite Wrestling listed the reasons that led him to make this decision, among which is Bryan's great knowledge of the business and the fans' desire to continue seeing him on television.

"As we were preparing for Forbidden Door, I thought Bryan would be fantastic on the commentary team for that event, knowing the baggage he has, his knowledge of professional wrestling, how prepared he is, and the amount of research he does on wrestling worldwide. Knowing the stars competing in Forbidden Door, who come from different promotions, stars from Mexico and Japan traveling from all over the world to compete in that show in London. Also, I believe that Bryan is a big star, and people want to see and hear him on television, and fortunately, he has very intelligent and profound things to say when he speaks," Khan said.

"I really thought Bryan would be a great addition to the commentary team, and he did a fantastic job on Forbidden Door. So I talked to him - maybe after he finished his promotional tour in Australia - about joining us on Wednesday, and everything fit perfectly. He will join us tomorrow night, on Wednesday Night Dynamite, as a host and commentator, bringing his invaluable knowledge of professional wrestling. I think it's great whenever we can have Bryan Danielson in AEW for anything, but especially to offer such intelligent and insightful commentary on wrestling. It's something great that we have now in AEW: Bryan Danielson as a host on Dynamite on Wednesday nights starting tomorrow," Khan concluded.

Bryan Danielson ended his career as a full-time professional wrestler at AEW WrestleDream 2024. "The American Dragon" lost the promotion's World Championship before being brutally attacked by his former Blackpool Combat Club teammates in a creative move to justify his absence from the company's television programming.

In this way, Bryan began a period of rest to treat a neck injury, while also assisting in the creative department of AEW. Danielson returned to television programming for the special ROH x CMLL Global Wars Mexico, where he came to the rescue of Blue Panther, one of his biggest idols, who was being attacked by Shane Taylor Promotions. Now he seems ready to embark on a new stage as a commentator on AEW Dynamite.
