The end of WrestleMania XL made it clear that WWE had entered a new era. The memorable reign of Roman Reigns was now in the past. The Tribal Chief had been the undisputed champion of WWE for 1316 days, but saw it come to an end at the hands of Cody Rhodes in the main event of the grand event. Since then, the son of the American Dream, Dusty Rhodes, has established himself as the face of WWE in this new stage.

For this reason, he has had a reign with the World title of over a year, has headlined WrestleMania in the last three years, and currently holds the Undisputed WWE Championship. While Rhodes himself deserves much of the credit, having decided to leave WWE ten years ago to explore other options in different companies, Bryan Danielson believes that credit should also be given to the companies that bet on him.

In an interview with the Kairouz Bros media, the former ROH, WWE, or AEW World Champion talked about the tremendous impact of Tony Khan's company and how the entire wrestling landscape has changed since 2019. He mentioned that CM Punk's return to the ring might not have happened, but the most interesting part was when he stated that the resounding success of Cody Rhodes would not have been possible without AEW. "If AEW hadn't started, would Cody Rhodes be where he is now? No. They have a megastar because AEW exists. Would CM Punk have ever returned? Probably not," explained Danielson.

Nevertheless, the American Dragon took the opportunity to point out that this statement was not an attack on CM Punk or Rhodes, but simply to highlight that recent wrestling history would be completely different without AEW. "It's good for the wrestlers, both in AEW and WWE. It's good for them," he concluded.
