Saudi Arabia could make history two consecutive years. The Asian country will host the next edition of the Royal Rumble in January 2026, but this would only be the prelude to what will come a year later: none other than WrestleMania 43. At least, that's what a press release from an Arab source that accidentally leaked the news indicated.
Although the press release was withdrawn shortly after its publication, the information had already been seen and spread by many, leading the main media outlets in the sector to investigate the matter. In this regard, Mike Johnson, from PWInsider, has been able to confirm that this is indeed a real news.
"Today, a press release in Arabic was published announcing that WrestleMania 43 will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2027. The press release was withdrawn shortly after its publication, as it apparently was sent out accidentally ahead of schedule. However, PWInsider.com can confirm that the news is 100% true and that an announcement will be made very soon, which will bring WrestleMania for the first time to an international location outside of North America," Johnson wrote.
Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful also reached out to his WWE sources to inquire about the veracity of this leak. "A high-ranking WWE official said, 'Where there's smoke, there's fire,' although without directly confirming it. He stated that Triple H's comments this week about inspiring a change could have been a precursor to an upcoming announcement," the outlet wrote in its latest report.
"PWInsider reported that a press release was sent out and then withdrawn. This led to many media outlets contacting us saying they hadn't received it, but according to what we were told, it was a press release in Arabic and was not sent to English-speaking media," Fightful wrote.
"The people we spoke to who are familiar with the situation expect three events in Saudi Arabia next year: Royal Rumble, and then the May and November shows that we have already reported on. We are not sure if this has been affected."
"Saudi officials have made it clear their desire to have a WrestleMania in the country practically since the beginning of their relationship with WWE. Earlier this year, Fightful was informed that pieces were already in motion to bring a WrestleMania to Saudi Arabia, with the possibility of calling it 'Super WrestleMania' or another brand variant," the outlet wrote.
"Within the company, it is believed that the immediate establishment of the WrestlePalooza brand as a significant deal would also serve to better distribute major global events, obtain higher venue fees, and create events that different cities are willing to bid for," the report concluded.
WWE and Saudi Arabia have an agreement in place, valid until 2027, under which the former committed to holding two annual events in their territory. This has been the case since 2018, except for the years 2020 and 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and 2025, which will be compensated next year with the first-ever Royal Rumble in the Asian country.
The company itself confirmed earlier this summer that the 2026 event schedule will feature three PLE in Saudi Arabia, thus offsetting the unfavorable impact on their total revenue plan in 2025 (approximately 55 million dollars) by hosting only one event in the Asian country this year (Night of Champions).
The relationship WWE maintains with Saudi Arabia has proven to be tremendously beneficial for the Endeavor-owned company. So much so that both parties could renew their agreement once it reaches its end. Meanwhile, hosting WWE's two biggest and most iconic PLE in Saudi Arabia will give great visibility to a country that has specialized in hosting the world's biggest sporting events.
