WWE has always cherished its traditions, but everything points to one of the longest-standing ones being put on hold in 2025. As reported this afternoon by WrestleVotes on their radio program, the company will not be holding their classic post-Christmas show at Madison Square Garden this year, an event that had been part of the company's non-televised calendar for decades and traditionally took place on December 26th.
Instead, WWE will return to the iconic New York venue on November 17th, when John Cena will make his final appearance at Madison Square Garden as part of his farewell tour. It will be a historic night that, of course, won't come cheap: the Ringsider Package is already being promoted with a price tag exceeding $2,300, and it's just one of the many packages available.
Last year, WWE also did not announce the December event at the Garden in advance, prioritizing the promotion of other dates, but ultimately, the traditional live event on December 26th did take place. This time, however, the cancellation seems final to give all the spotlight to Cena's farewell in November.
The fact that WWE is giving up a tradition that has been part of the Madison Square Garden's history for generations shows the magnitude of John Cena's farewell. For the fans, it will be an emotionally charged night, although many will miss that Christmas appointment that symbolized the special connection between the company and "the wrestling cathedral."
