Kazuchika Okada continues to reign as AEW Unified Champion. The Japanese wrestler defeated Michael Oku in one of the most outstanding matches of the latest episode of AEW Collision, held last night at the iconic 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The match was also part of the tournament to determine the competitors for the title at AEW All Out.

Match development

Okada and Oku started with an initial phase of testing in which the challenger managed to surprise the Japanese with a quick offensive. Oku expelled the champion from the ring before hitting him with a Fosbory Flop. Oku then brought him back into the ring, but the Japanese surprised him with a dropkick, causing the Brit to fall from the top of one of the corners and hit his head against the barrier. A move that got the fans on their feet. From that moment on, "The Rainmaker" took control of the match.

The challenger once again used his agility and technique to turn the situation around, and almost achieved victory after hitting a combo of Superkick + Penalty Kick + Quebrada. However, the Japanese managed to recover to launch his final offensive. A piledriver, followed by a rainmaker, ended Oku and his title aspirations.

Thus, "The Rainmaker" adds his second title defense in his first reign as AEW Unified Champion. A title he won 64 days ago after defeating Kenny Omega at AEW All In Texas, a match in which the International and Continental Championships were unified. As an additional fact, last night's match was Okada's first against Oku in their professional careers.

Okada will defend the championship in a three-way match at AEW All Out. One of his opponents, Konosuke Takeshita, earned his opportunity by defeating Anthony Bowens in last night's AEW Collision episode. The Beast Mortos and Máscara Dorada will compete for the final spot next Wednesday on AEW Dynamite September to Remember.
