The legacy of the Mysterio family in wrestling could continue, as Aalyah, Rey Mysterio's daughter, has started training. During a recent interview on the Club 520 podcast in Las Vegas, Rey confirmed that his daughter is showing a great interest in following in his and her older brother Dominik Mysterio's footsteps.
According to the masked wrestler, Aalyah had been asking him to take her to a ring for a year and a half. The opportunity arose when he had to return to the Performance Center for an injury check-up. Aalyah accompanied him, got into the ring, and in Rey's words, "she loved it." The 24-year-old, who graduated from the University of California in San Diego, performed basic exercises like rope hits and falls, which left her back and shoulders "bruised."
Aalyah's recent training sessions are not limited to WWE. Earlier this month, superstar Natalya shared on her social media that Aalyah and Rey visited her and her husband TJ Wilson at their gym The Dungeon 2.0 in Florida. Natalya described the night as "an incredible night of training" where multiple generations of wrestlers came together. This suggests that Aalyah's interest in wrestling is serious and could mark the beginning of a new career for the Mysterio family in the ring.
Aalyah Mysterio has already made several appearances in WWE, supporting her father in some storylines. The most remembered one happened in 2020, when Rey and Dominik Mysterio had an intense rivalry with Seth Rollins and his disciple Buddy Murphy. Aalyah played a significant role in that storyline by "falling in love" with Buddy and challenging her family to be with him. In more recent years, she has also appeared in the audience to confront her brother Dominik during his rivalry with their father.
