The new regime of WWE has brought numerous changes in all areas, including PLEs. As part of a new economic strategy, premium live events held outside the United States have significantly increased in number in recent years, generating substantial revenue for the company. Countries such as Scotland, France, Germany, Australia, and Saudi Arabia have hosted PLEs in this new era. But they won't be the only ones.
And indeed, Nick Khan has confirmed that Italy will have its own PLE in early 2026. The WWE president announced the exclusive to Sportsbusiness during his recent participation in the IMG x RedBird summit. Khan did not offer more details on the matter, although he did make it clear that they will continue to maintain this business strategy.
"Almost half of our Premium Live Events are now held outside the United States. We believe WWE is a global brand, and we believe that the results of these events, both in terms of attendance and viewership (locally and globally), have been significant. We have seen year-over-year increases in the audience for each of them," Khan stated.
So far, Italy has hosted two televised WWE shows. The most recent of them took place earlier this year on the European tour Road to WrestleMania 41, with the airing of the March 21 episode of SmackDown at the Unipol Arena in Bologna. That tour also included an episode of the blue brand in Barcelona, marking the first time a televised WWE show was held in Spain.
WWE will return to Europe with a new tour for the Royal Rumble, a PLE that will take place for the first time in history in Saudi Arabia. Considering Nick Khan's statements, it is very likely that Italy's PLE will take place at some point between February and April, before WrestleMania 42.
