Tonight, AEW held a special edition of September to Remember, just days before All Out. At the event, the final qualifying match for the Unified Championship took place, where two of the best Mexican wrestlers delivered an incredible match. In the end, Máscara Dorada, representing CMLL, managed to defeat The Beast Mortos to secure his spot.
The match started with an even pace, where Máscara Dorada and The Beast Mortos showcased their contrasting styles. Máscara Dorada used his speed and agility to land scissors and kicks, but The Beast Mortos' power allowed him to throw him out of the ring and dive with a screwdriver. Mortos continued his offense in the ring, although he couldn't secure the three count.
Just when Mortos seemed to have control, the CMLL representative surprised his opponent with a series of quick moves, including a spectacular Destroyer on the edge of the ring. Máscara Dorada followed up with a Shooting Star Press to finally get the three count over The Beast Mortos, sealing his victory and his place in the Unified Championship match.
After the match, Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita made their appearance, confronting each other face to face while Don Callis tried to calm them down. In that tense moment, Máscara Dorada took advantage of the distraction to launch himself at Okada. With this action, the Mexican wrestler made it clear that he is not afraid of his future rivals.
