D-Generation X was one of the most influential factions in WWE history, born during the peak of the Attitude Era in the late nineties. Initially formed by Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Chyna, and Road Dogg alongside Billy Gunn and X-Pac, the group broke the established molds by mixing provocation and a rebellious style that immediately connected with the audience. Their impact was such that it helped solidify the popularity boom that allowed WWE to surpass WCW in the Monday Night Wars.
One of its members, Road Dogg, recently revealed which current superstars he would choose for a modern version of D-Generation X. In an interview with Gamingbible to promote the new Hall of Legends expansion for WWE 2K25, the WWE Hall of Fame member explained that he would include Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest, highlighting that the latter reminds him of an early Undertaker. He also pointed out Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) as ideal choices.
Additionally, he mentioned JD McDonagh as a possible replacement for the role once held by X-Pac within the group. With laughter, he concluded by saying that he could bring Judgment Day along to form this new DX adapted to the current era.
Today, D-Generation X continues to be remembered as a synonym of rebellion and entertainment, with phrases, gestures, and moments that are part of the collective imagination of wrestling fans. The fact that Road Dogg and fans fantasize about a modern version reflects the cultural weight that the group still holds in the WWE universe.
Outside the ring, Road Dogg is enjoying a very special personal moment with his wife, with whom he will soon celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. With their daughters already independent, the former wrestler confesses that what brings him the most joy nowadays is living with his two French bulldogs and their new cat, acquired as part of the celebration.
“I never thought I would have a cat in my life, but seeing him put the dogs in their place and how they skate on the floor trying to escape is like watching a cartoon,” he commented with laughter.
