WWE has held a new premium event tonight, the first in the ESPN era. Wrestlepalooza presented a card full of interesting matches, highlighting the opener, the match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar, and the mixed tag team match between AJ Lee and CM Punk against Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins.
Despite the excitement, WWE has once again missed an opportunity to demonstrate greater equality between men and women, playing with that difference they have us accustomed to. AJ Lee took a while to warm up, having the opportunity in a one-on-one with Becky Lynch in the early moments that lasted a very short time.
The duo formed by Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch worked very well as a team, with The Architect physically dominating his opponent and Becky Lynch providing the finishing touch at all times, leaving CM Punk breathless, who had no rest. Rollins even used Becky Lynch to lift her and throw her against Punk, failing in the attempt, but still Punk couldn't reach his wife.
Finally, AJ Lee was able to get into action after Rollins wasted too much time and received Punk's GTS. Lee took care of her opponent and connected several of her characteristic moves, highlighting the Black Widow, which she applied to both Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. The villainous duo regrouped and managed to apply a double Pedigree to their opponents, but the count only reached two.
The final moments were full of false finishes, with Becky Lynch and CM Punk applying Sharpshooters to each other and Seth Rollins coming close to victory with the Curb Stomp. Lynch caught AJ Lee with the Manhandle Slam and also came close to victory, but AJ Lee managed to escape just before the three count.
The fight moved to the ringside, where both teams climbed onto the announcers' tables. Becky Lynch threw AJ Lee onto CM Punk and Seth Rollins, and the three of them dismantled a table. Lynch returned to the ring with AJ Lee, but was caught off guard by the Black Widow. This time, Lynch couldn't hold on and tapped out.
This match marks AJ Lee's return to the ring and adds the first victory for the wrestler at home. Following this victory, it is very likely that we will see AJ Lee in action again soon.
