After a standout All Out, All Elite Wrestling is gearing up for a new edition of AEW Dynamite, which promises to be full of surprises. Last weekend, Tony Khan teased that he will make a significant announcement, with many speculating that it could be the debut of the highly anticipated AEW Women's Tag Team Championships. Whether that's the case or not, the women's gold will be present on the show.
Indeed, the AEW president has just announced that Kris Statlander will defend the Women's World Championship against Mina Shirakawa. "After winning the World Championship at All Out, Statlander said she wants to be a champion who defends her title. With a winning streak and determined to avenge Toni, Mina steps up! Statlander vs. Mina TOMORROW!", Tony Khan wrote on X.
This will be Statlander's first title defense in her first world reign. The wrestler captured the gold last weekend after defeating Thekla, Jamie Hayter, and Toni Storm in a fatal four-way match at All Out. This will also be the first time in her career that she faces Shirakawa one-on-one.
On the other hand, Mina will try to add a new title to her resume and become the third Japanese woman to hold AEW's world gold. Meanwhile, Shirakawa continues to hold the ROH Women's World Interim Championship, which will be active until the return of the official champion, Red Velvet, who is currently out due to injury.
AEW Dynamite will take place tomorrow from the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Fans can witness this event live from the venue or through its broadcast on TBS and Max in the USA, FOX Sports in Mexico, and Triller TV internationally. Below, we leave you with the announced card so far.
