Cody Rhodes has no doubts: the future of WWE already has a name and surname. In an interview with ESPN's Unsportsmanlike, the champion placed Bron Breakker as the next big star of the company, in the midst of The Vision's rise, the faction of Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed, and the omnipresent voice of Paul Heyman, with Becky Lynch orbiting the story waiting for a defined role.
"I didn't think about it at first -and without disrespect-, but now I do: he is the future of WWE," Rhodes admitted about Breakker. "We are positioning him to be there as we progress: WrestleMania main event, big stages, winning a world title... all of that."
He's like a franchise quarterback in his rookie year. I know he's someone who will probably beat me someday.
Rhodes also revealed a reflection that marked him from Roman Reigns, with whom he went from a bloody enmity to an uncomfortable alliance on screen. For both, the leap from WWE to a platform like ESPN transcends the sport.
"We don't talk much, but he told me something that stuck with me: WWE, and wrestling in general, reaching such a big showcase like ESPN is actually everything our parents worked for," Rhodes recounts. The phrase made him see the current moment as the culmination of Dusty Rhodes and Sika's effort, and as an added responsibility: "We enjoy this success; now it's time to live up to it."
