Jeff Jarrett confirms details of Brock Lesnar's possible arrival in TNA

Spike TV was not going to cover his contract and the company was still not ready for such an investment.

Recently, Scott D'Amore confirmed that Brock Lesnar was very close to signing with TNA on one occasion. Jeff Jarrett addressed the rumor in the latest edition of his podcast, where he also confirmed that the conversations did take place, and made it clear why they never materialized.

According to Jarrett, Brock Lesnar had two conditions that made the agreement impossible: he wanted to focus on mixed martial arts and asked for a too high economic figure for the moment the company was going through. Although Spike TV was starting to trust the product, it still did not cover large contracts and TNA was still struggling to establish itself on television.

Jarrett recalled how, at that time, the company's show barely occupied one hour weekly outside of prime time. "It was a different time, we were building credibility with the network. We didn't yet have the numbers to justify an investment of that size”, he explained.

We knew it would be a deal based on dates. Kevin Kay wanted to have him, I myself knew he could be the face of the company. But when I heard what he was asking for, it was even more than what Sting cost at that time. Mathematically, it wasn't going to work out.

The TNA founder emphasized that, despite the limitations, the management was aware of Lesnar's value. In his words, he was someone capable of being a babyface or a heel, of speaking well on camera, and of representing the company in any scenario. However, Dixie Carter and her team chose to be cautious: "We were just starting to generate income, and Brock represented a huge risk".

Currently, Brock Lesnar continues his journey in WWE. He crushed John Cena at Wrestlepalooza, although his next step is unknown. What has been confirmed is his appearance at WrestleMania 42, or at least for now that seems to be the case since he appears on the official event poster.
