WWE has filed a new trademark application that directly points to its current invasion storyline between NXT and TNA. On September 24, the company applied to register the term "Invasion", with a broad range of uses related to professional wrestling and sports entertainment.
The registration covers services such as live shows, TV broadcasts, radio and online platforms, as well as newsletters, blogs, fan clubs, and information portals related to wrestling. All of this aligns with what is unfolding on screen within NXT.
In the latest episode of the yellow brand, TNA talents invaded the show after weeks of tensions. The program was headlined by a champion vs champion clash between Oba Femi and Trick Williams, which ended in a no contest due to the chaos caused by the invasion.
WWE's move to trademark "Invasion" not only strengthens the current storyline but also evokes memories of one of the most famous angles in modern history: the WCW and ECW Invasion in 2001, when wrestlers from both companies appeared in WWE in a storyline that marked an era. Now, with TNA in the mix, the name resonates once again in a completely different context.
The future of this invasion between NXT and TNA seems to be just beginning, and the fact that WWE has already legally secured the term suggests that the angle could extend and become a key story in the coming months.
