TNA Wrestling invaded NXT in the latest weekly episode of the WWE's developmental brand. As rumored in the previous days, a multitude of talents from Anthem Media's company traveled to the Performance Center to sow chaos in the main event of the night, where two NXT talents were competing for the TNA championship.
Many voices have expressed their discontent with an alliance between companies that seems to mainly benefit WWE while TNA is left as a second-tier promotion. A situation that became unsustainable for the talent of the Athem Media company, including Santino Marella, who stated that they have a lot to say in this "war".
"I'll tell you when things changed. It was fun, a situation where everyone was winning: our talent went there, their talent came here," Santino said in WrestleZone. "But suddenly, when they had two of our main titles, the backstage atmosphere changed a bit. I think, in some way, we decided that we had to take control. We're not going to let them walk all over us. We are not the secondary brand".
"When it comes to money and TV exposure, that's one thing. But when it comes to real talent in the ring, we are not the secondary brand, and we are not going to allow them to portray us that way. So yes, we did what we had to do, and we will continue to do so until we feel like we are the winners in this," he added.
TNA and NXT will hold their next PPVs this same weekend. In principle, it is not expected that the invasion storyline will affect the shows, at least not substantially. Meanwhile, outlets like Fightful report that it is a storyline that will extend for weeks, and even WWE has applied for the trademark "Invasion", which could result in a joint PPV between both companies.
