Bret Hart has a long history of enemies in WWE, starting with Goldberg, whom he accuses of being responsible for his premature retirement, and of course, Vince McMahon, Shawn Michaels, and all those who in some way participated in the "Montreal Screwjob" of 1997.

One of those involved was Triple H, a personal friend of Michaels and McMahon, who before that event was already trying to undermine "The Hitman's" credibility. The current WWE Chief Content Officer faced the Canadian in the historic episode of Raw in Germany in February of that year, in a match that ended with the former's victory by disqualification. However, that was not the original plan.

"I fought with him a couple of times. He always tried to beat me. We did a Monday Night Raw in Germany, and he was already part of the creative team. He was on the creative committee along with Vince and Jerry Brisco, among others. I arrived in Germany, which was one of my strongest markets. There was never a star in Germany like me," Bret said in a recent appearance on Inside The Ropes.

"I arrived in the locker room and they informed me that Triple H would beat me; 1, 2, 3, in the center of the ring. They practically cornered me in the locker room. Triple H was staring at me. Brisco said, 'This is what you're going to do. Triple H is going to win.' I listened to them and said, 'I want to talk to Vince. I'm not going to do anything until I talk to Vince'.

I never refused to lose to anyone, except Shawn at Survivor Series. They put me in a room with Vince and I said, 'Why would you make me lose in Germany? It's a country where I'm very popular. Why would you make me lose to someone who isn't? Why would you make me lose in the center of the ring when next week I'm going to fight Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13? Are you going to have me defeated on Raw, in the center of the ring, and then you want me to fight Austin and what else?'

Vince looked like he had been hit with a sledgehammer. He said to me, 'You're right. We have to change it'. He realized they couldn't make me lose before fighting Steve. You could see how pale Triple H was getting. He couldn't beat me. He had already made up his mind to cover and destroy me in Germany because he had the influence, which shows what kind of garbage he was. I messed with him, temporarily. He was determined to sink me," Bret stated.

When asked about his current relationship with Triple H, Hart replied: "I don't know the answer to that. I tried to move on. I always compare it to carrying a big bag of rocks. If you could just drop that bag, you'd be much better off, mentally and emotionally. But at the same time, you have to follow your heart. I'm not sure how I feel about Triple H".
