The Miz recently revealed a plan that could have drastically altered his career and the history of Money in the Bank. Speaking on the Unlikely podcast, the former WWE champion confessed that the original idea for his first cash-in was for him to become the first wrestler to fail the opportunity.

According to The Miz, WWE's creative team believed that his character in 2010 fit perfectly with this fate. "I was the guy who was going to cash in and lose. That was my trajectory. The first person to cash in and lose. That's something The Miz would do, that's that character, that's what would happen," he explained.

However, The Miz's fate changed at the last minute. The wrestler recalled that on the same day he was scheduled to cash in, he received the news that his defining moment was about to happen. It was then when he was informed of the twist in the storyline: "That day I walked in, sat down, and heard: 'You're going to win tonight, you're going to win the WWE Championship,'" The Miz reminisced.

The Miz cashed in against Randy Orton on the November 22, 2010 episode of Raw, securing his first major WWE World Championship. Thanks to this success, The Miz had a reign that culminated in a victory over John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 27. In contrast, the unfortunate "honor" of being the first wrestler to fail a Money in the Bank cash-in went to Damien Sandow in 2013.
